Front speakers not working. Please advise!
Driver Side Speakers Not Working. Hi, I'm having a problem with my driver side speakers in my '97 SL1. Figured I'd come here and see if anyone had any ideas why that might be before I start tearing things apart. Usually the drivers side speakers front and back don't work at all but recently they started to work sometimes when they key is turned to the "acc" position.
As soon as you start the car they stop working. The passenger side speakers work fine. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Ok, since no one has stepped up so far.. IDK but, since it's both front and back, left only if I read that right , it sounds to me like your radio has a problem in the left channel amp output. Cracked solder joint on the MB maybe? You could try pulling the radio easy and re-seat the connector a few times but I doubt that would help. Your profile doesn't list a location add your model info there too btw but, If you're in my neck of the woods, I have a 97 HU with a dead display bulb you can have to try to see if that's the problem.
You did read correct, it is only on the left side. My theory is that I have a wire touching something that it shouldn't be touching. I also figured said wire didn't have any current going over it until the car was actually started but not when I have the key on the acc position. Not really sure if that's possible since I really don't know much when it comes to cars and my only electrical experience is only about half a semesters worth of a basic electricity class.
A buddy of mine may have a head unit I could try but I'm worried that if I try a different head unit the one I have now will lock up on me when I unplug it. Apparently it has some sort of anti theft system. Find More Posts by adventureoflink. Originally Posted by adventureoflink. Originally Posted by Pkwastavich. The left side speakers never work once the car is running but the right side work just fine. Still nothing when the car is actually on though.
I'd try your buddy's radio to see if has the same symptoms as long as it's also a GM unit. That would just create more of a headache. The Saturn has inexpensive paper cone speakers. I've noticed that they can deteriorate in the door being somewhat exposed to elements. Also, the radio is basically capable of "blowing" them if you turn the volume too high. Something to look into. What is your Saturn's oil economy? Improper factory spark plugs! Thanks for all of the input everyone.
To Saturnfix, I don't think the speakers are blown as they do work sometimes. To bountyhunter, I don't think the vibration from the car running is the issue either. I do think it could have something to do with the voltage change though.
I noticed turning the dashboard lights on will also prevent the driver side speakers from working. Sorry for the double post but I don't know how to edit posts. It looks like the problem is related to the dimmable dashboard lights. As I said above the speakers will stop working whenever I turn the dashboard lights on. If I turn the dashboard lights off then switch the radio off and on the speakers will work again. They will however stop working when the car is turned on and switching the radio off and on will not make the speakers work.
Also if I turn the dimmer knob for the dashboard lights down low while the dashboard lights are off I get feedback from the left speakers. If I switch the dashboard lights on the feedback stops.
I've seen some blown speakers kick in and out, I guess whenever they have enough power to overcome the voice coil binding. But it does sound like the problem is with your radio. The dim switch feeds into the radio. Do you have the original radio, or an aftermarket? It's the stock radio. I'll try and get ahold of a different radio this week to see if that fixes it.
I'll post the outcome here. Thanks for the help. Got ahold of a new radio and I had the same result. Driver side speakers cut out as soon as I turn the dashlights on. Is there 2 different power sources that the car uses when its running or with the key turned to run?
It really looks like the radio isnt getting enough power when I flip those dash lights on. Try playin with your dimmer switch, just to see if it has an effect. Not sure how to take out the dimmer switch but dimming the lights causes feedback on the left side speakers. I also got the speakers to work while the car is running but they still will not work with the dashlights on.
Yeah, the dimmer exercise is more of a diagnostic step, not a fix. IIRC, the dimmer knob just snaps into its place in the dash; try gently prying it out, or push it from behind if you can reach it. With the dimmer switch disconnected the speakers still do not work with the dash light switch turned on. They do however come back when I turn the switch off. Before I had to turn the radio off then switch the dash lights on and off before the speakers would work again.

How To Fix Car Audio Speaker Not Working One Side

The best part of a car is the speakers because it makes people listen to their favorite tracks and enjoy their drive. Most people feel joy when they listen to music while driving, while some people can concentrate more on driving while listening to music. People also install aftermarket and more powerful speakers in their car for better sound quality and productivity. But when they do that they run into many types of problems.

If you can't hear a person's voice clearly, hear crackling, hear static, or have issues with sound quality, learn what to do. If you're using an iPad, you can also swipe down from the top-right corner to view Control Center and make sure that Silent Mode is off. Remove all screen protectors, films, or cases from your device. Check the speaker opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. On iPhone only, make sure that the receiver is not blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the speaker or receiver opening with a small, soft-bristled brush.
My left side speakers are not working properly. No base sound coming out??? What could be?? Speakers or amplifier??
Where can I find this?
In my opinion, this is relevant, I will take part in the discussion. Together we can come to the right answer. I'm sure.
