I have an old closed-back Danelectro Honeytone HT I took it home, put an old BeyerDynamics M in front of it and slipped on the headphones. Smokey and tight, but turns out I like it better for clean slide work than my Blues Jr. Little David. I still have the Yamaha G 1x15 version I bought as a teen in the 80s.

Bought a bunch of tubes amps and sold them all! I have a Weber Chicago alnico 15" in there, and with heavy-ish flatwounds on a hollowbody or semi-hollow it's heaven for me. Lab Series L3, L5, anything Tech Little Smokey amps.

The Tech 21 stuff rocks. I don't have a "real" little smokey, but I have built a bunch of LM amps that add "flavor" to recorded tracks. I have two small SS amps that have not been mentioned in this thread yet. They both absolutely rule for recording! I could seriously make an entire record with this amp and be happy with the results. Totally believable overdrive, feels and sounds like a tube amp to me.

Not as rich tonally, of course, but once it has a mic on it I can shape it with EQ. And actually, the mid band of EQ on the amp itself is pure gold. It won't do high gain metal but for straight up rock it is a full on secret weapon for me. I had a Sidekick 10 about 20 years ago and cherished it. When I saw the bigger Sidekick 30 with reverb! One of my favorite recent purchases by far.

You know, the little baby full stack thing, with one slanted 10" cab and one square 10" cab, and the tiny head The cabs are OK. I've replaced the speakers and they are useable. But the head Again, pure gold. I've done sessions with the head hooked up to bigger cabs, and the results were amazing. Just like the Fender, it responds like a tube amp. Just has that "right" character. I've recently been using the input and headphone output as a distortion on insert for PT.

I wouldn't want to be stuck with just these two amps, and nothing bigger that was tube driven. But if I actually WAS stuck I really wouldn't be too hurt, I could make records and love the results.

In fact, at this point if I had to make a record without the Fender I would actually be bummed out. It's just too easy to mic up and get a great track with it. Has the Fender Rok Pro been mentioned so far? I recently had the pleasure in the studio, with a hollow body Japan Tele: killer combo! Check out the Tech 21 Trademark Great all around amp. I use it all the time with great results. My Trademark 10 yields much better results than amp sims. I use it more than my Fender Blues Deluxe too.

Go Nigel Go. Golly, this is bringing up some memories. In the Eighties I didn't like the Yamaha guitar and bass amps at all. They were the very reason solid-state amps are less desirable than tube amps: Dull, and dull. Roland amps I hated. Every one of 'em. I hated 'em. Yorkville came out with a version of the cube for keyboards and bass and those were some of the most beautiful sounding amps -- a small bass amp that actually went deep, the keyboard amp was wide-range and quite hi fi.

Yorkville Traynor has always seemed to know what stuff should sound like. Polytone amps were built by untalented amateurs. They'd bury the amp's heatsink in the insulation that damped the speaker box. And plenty more. Really, really homemade. Now I have a Peavey Rage with a 10" speaker in it bolts right in if you take the chassis out for a sweet, wide-range sound; and a Vox Pathfinder for when I want a clangier sound.

The Vox broke, apparently a lot of them do. I'll have to open it up one of these days. I don't use distortion but for three songs, so I may be off the beam here. I was looking for a starter amp for my nephew a couple of years ago. For stuff still be produced, I really liked the peavey vypyr. I know, it looks goofy with those skull knobs, but I noodled on that thing for hours before I gave it to him Stood it right next to the comparible line 6 and there is no comparison.

Line 6 sounded like a digital bucket of fuzz Plus it does a ton of sounds, and has built in effects. Honestly, in the right situation I would have no problem gigging that thing. I picked up a Galien Krueger Back line back in the mid 90s. I still have it, and use it for practice regularly, sometimes I still gig with it.

Just cannot find much information on it. The ZT lunchbox is by far my favorite SS guitar amp. Picked up a DV Mark head last year from GC on sale and used it on live gigs all year plugged into a single 12" cab with a Celestion speaker. Very happy with that purchase. Has that same lush bottom and lower midrange as the MarkBass amps, and a nice high end that doesn't get strident.

Reverb is ok for gigs, but don't expect much from the distortion channel. Gotta get that from pedals, but translates fine thru the amp. Plugged into two 12" speakers 60 watts RMS , it gets a nice, fat, clean sound that approaches a Fender Twin. I've also had a Roland Cube 40 for decades that has paid for itself many times over. The old one with the bright orange Tolex. Sounds great for Teles, but needs an added 12" speaker for jazz. Loud enough for most small clubs with a 12" cab.

I've had many friends over the years who fell in love with that amp. Just recapped it so now it's quiet and has it's original tone back. Fender sidekick reverb 30 noise problem. Hi, I have this problem with the Fender i am trying to fix for a friend, The power amp makes a noise like a 2stroke engine. On the scope I see very short bursts of oscillation. I know it is the power amp because the noise continues if I short the input of the diff amp. It even continues after switching the set off as long as there is still energy in the caps.

Blog design is still important, and whatever you say, but even from a physiological point of view, it is more pleasant to read text on a white background, surrounded by some kind of nice outline. Of course, brightness is needed, but after all, a person does not come to the site in order to spend 5 seconds here, he wants to read something - who is new, who is to view comments on blogs. I, too, sometimes come back because of the comments. to see what the people poured there. There are times when the topic is developed that the tin turns out. Loose. Sorry. while.
