Woo Audio Wa6 Vs Bottlehead Crack Manual

Well, after waiting almost 2 months, the Woo Audio WA6 finally showed up. I ordered the optional Sophia Princess rectifier tube and the optional 13EM7 tubes and adapters. The stock tubes are always included with Woo amps as well. Sounds terrific out of the box but they do take some time to break in. I'll post some updates as I get some more listening time on it. Very nice Serge. Maybe some day. I have to say the WA6 is great for what I envisioned would be my "desktop" tube amp.

I can see that pairing going very well together. I'm 'Woo-Wooing' right along with you Serge, for I've had the same amp since last fall and like you couldn't be happier. I haven't tried any tube rolling yet I actually went with the WA6 not to be tempted by the gazillion tubes out there since that rollercoaster never ends. I have heard all of their amps except their most newly released.

It is HUGE. I highly recommend upgrading. Your mind will be blown away by the diffence. Out of curiosity, how does your Woo Audio compare to your Primaluna? All those EL34's running in Triode Mode and one resistor in the path of the tubes and your cans will do that.

The WA6 is plenty great, no itch to upgrade here and this is my desktop amp so no room for a 2 chassis amp. I have the PrimaLuna for that purpose. WA6 just fits on the edge of my desk, they are not exactly small. Excellent build quality and very good sound for the money. The unit can be significantly tweaked by rolling in NOS tubes. Congrats on the purchase Serge. The Woo gets hours of play time daily. Love it.

Very musical. So far the Sophia Princess and the 13EM7 tubes are keeping me very happy. Try the Brimar 5Z4GY rectifier tube. Mates beautifully with the WA6. Lovely midrange. I have one in mine. Will look into it for sure. After posting about the Brimar, I got to thinking about it a bit more. Ordered another one just to be safe.

Langrex in the UK is the place to go for it. They also have an eBay store. Just an FYI. It would seem you have the Gen 2 WA6, so that doesn't use the same 6de7's valves that mine do. It has great extension and excellent clarity on all frequency range.

You will hear each note with breathing air around it. The sound is smooth and well balanced. Ran them in for a few hours on Tuesday and then gave them a listen last night. Although power output seems a tiny shade less which is still quite enough the overall presentation is more liquid and smooth.

Seems to have a bit more air and sparkle. Thanks for the feedback. I also bought a WA6 a few months ago and loved it.

I kept the WA6 as a loaner, and the SE finally arrived this week after ordering it two months ago. I just set it up, and it sounds great. I know it will require significant break-in time to reach its optimum sound, but I am pleased so far.

The headphone output is incredible, as it should be since it's driven by the full complement of tubes! The PrimaLuna HP is awesome. I noticed that Woo Audio has a new website.

Could be an oversight in launching a new website. Probably an oversight. I like the old website better In case Woo doesn't offer the Sophia Princess, it can be purchased here. That giant rectifier tube makes that look awesome! If I'm ever in the market for a tube headphone rig this will be on the short list. Yes, looks really cool, especially with the lights dimmed and sounds sublime.

Very musical amp. Sennheiser HD are also great with the Woo. Gave the WA6 serious thought, however in the end went with a one box solution for the desktop upgrade and ordered a 2nd gen WA7 today. My first Woo! Thank you.

I cannot say enough about the responsiveness for the folks at Woo. So far, world class service, IMHO. Glad to hear your enjoying your WA7.

It's been a while since I have listened to headphones, at least 2 months or so. Summer evenings are usually spent tinkering with my other hobbies as I get to enjoy my other hobbies mostly in summer and fall. This evening I decided to reach for the shelf with my trusty old Sennheiser HD, plug in my Woo Audio WA6 and let it warm up for 30 min before I would sit down and enjoy an album or two. For some reason Pink Floyd the Wall was on my mind, an album I have not listened to in a very long time.

As the Woo warmed up, with the big, fat Sophia Princess tube glowing in the darkness of my listening room, I eased the HD onto my head and hit play Wow, there is so much magic going on with high impedance headphones and tubes. You know those moments when you listen to your system and you are covered in goosebumps?

I didn't even realized how much I missed listening to headphones and how absolutely mesmerizing headphones can sound when the pairing is right. Silky smooth sonic signature, zero harshness, glare or hardness. Inviting, resolving without drawing attention to itself, the pairing sounds, natural, analog round and warm.

The Woo sounds so right and wholesome, easily digging down to the very essence and emotional content that is so often absent with solid state.

Love tubes with headphones. WA6 is my first Woo Audio product before I joined the company nearly 4 years ago. I still use the amp. I wanted to see how far this little amp can go in performance. The tube arrives tomorrow. Should be a fun weekend. Am guessing at least hoping that Sophia is simply test-sorting the TJ tubes and relabeling as their own.

Likely the same on the B and other tubes. Great sound. So, it, like my Clear headphones, is still breaking-in. This tube hits the limitations of the amp. While it sounded great, the smoothest vocals I've heard the tube can sound a lot better. WA6 is still one of my favorite amps of any kind but it does have its limitations. The TAB tube is overkill for this amp. Best to take the TA money and upgrade to WA22 instead. Just can't go Sophia all the way.

Really do like the sound the WA6 provides.

If I have a really good DAC, is a tube amp necessary?

The amplifier unit has two chokes per channel and utilizes direct interstage coupling design, there is no coupling capacitor in the signal path. I have also tried many different kind of musics and I have to say, WA6-SE makes them to sound as good as they possibly can. I notice the sonic signature changes to the better side. The changes are minor, bass is a little deeper and controlled, everything seem to be well balanced.

AMP IS SOLD NOW USD: US: Sorry to let this go, but this furlough is starting to hurt. I bought this amp brand new from Woo in March.

Woo Audio WA6-SE (2nd Gen) Headphone Amplifier

A good friend of mine loaned his Woo Audio 6 to me during his time away for a business trip. Another popular upgrade offered by Woo Audio 6 is the Sophia Princess rectifier tube, though this unit does not have it. WooAudio has one of the prettiest and slickest build quality that you can find in the industry. Everything from the hairline finishing, the lines, the knobs, the transformer housing, all the way to the back panel, you find nothing but top quality workmanship. This amplifier will definitely give other amplifiers body image issues.

Even before I listened to it, I knew it was going to be amazing.

Forum Rules. Awesome and very glad it was not anything major. I actually use the volume control on my pre-amp. I pretty much set the Woo at about 1 o'clock on the dial and use the remote from the Hattor. My MSB headphone amp is back.

The ZiiSound D5 has a very sturdy build quality and comes in an all-black body. A plastic panel runs along the centre. It has volume controls on the top portion and a connectivity indicator in the front. Mid-frequency was the most responsive, giving crystal clear sound. Bass-heavy songs tended to skip some beats and sounded muffled. At higher frequencies too the sound separation was found to be lacking.
