Ik had eerst een Peavey TNT maar door omstandigheden moest ik iets nieuws hebben en het moest zo klein mogelijk en niet te duur maar toch iets waar je niet mee verdrinkt in een band. Ik heb overal gezocht.
Er zijn andere opties voor die prijs. Het enige andere merk dat ook een speaker van 15 inch had voor een goeie prijs viel af omdat ik dat geluid te hard en helder vond. Ik zocht iets dat meer vol en warm is. Toen zag ik bij toeval een advertentie voor deze en toen kwam ik toch weer bij Peavey uit dus. Draagbaar, power [W!!! Nou wil dit niet zeggen dat deze versterker alleen aan te raden is voor een volle en warme bastoon.
Je kan er alle kanten mee op. Dat is wel het goeie aan deze versterker. Alles zit er op en er aan. Stemapparaat, mp3 speler ingang en ingang koptelefoon voor als je hem thuis ook als oefen versterker wil gebruiken.
Een boost voor de bas. Je kunt bij elke knop voor de toonregeling met een drukknop nog extra effect meegeven. Dat geeft het apparaat toch genoeg mogelijkheden om er veel verschillende sounds uit te halen.
Van ronkende rock tot een scherpe slap sound. Ik vind ook dat de versterker goed reageert op de knoppen. Het is niet zo dat je lang moet draaien voor je verschil hoort. Ik heb er nog niet mee over een PA gespeeld. Maar wel met een band. Deze versterker heeft meer dan genoeg power. Ik heb hem nog niet vol open gehad. Kleine optredens ben ik niet bang voor met deze versterker.
Mijn ervaring met Peavey versterkers is dat ze degelijk zijn en een puur basgeluid hebben. Het is niet standaard rock, of slap of ronk of jazzy of wollig. Jij bepaald zelf hoe je wil klinken en er zitten genoeg knoppen op om dat er uit te halen. Maar ook niet te veel knoppen zodat je er geen wijs uit kan worden. Voor een bassist met een band en een optreden hier en daar het goeie apparaat zou ik zeggen.

That's a lot of amp to carry. I'd recommend a separate head and cab if you want to go improve on your Max Plus, all else being equal which I know it isn't but it's close , doubling the power will only get you another 3 dB of volume, detectable but not significant. Not really sure why you want Watts for "small medium gigs". Seems like your present Watt amp should be just fine. Oddly enough, the Max Series doesn't appear to have external speaker jacks so that's not an option. Keep an eye out for something used. You'll probably need to spend at least GBP to get something new, based on a quick check of Dawson's web site. I'd always though bassists were very much "dyed in the wool" 15" merchants, however there seems to be this group that lean towards 10" speakers and multiple 10" cabs. It's a relatively modern development.
