Page created in 0. Ok, I'll bite. While this seems like overkill, that's your decision, not mine. I frequently use these speakers for indoor accoustic "house concerts" with great results, and I've never had any problems with hiss or an unbalanced sound. I've found they will give you exactly what you feed them. They handle these quiet situations and some loud ones with grace. If you're having problems with hiss, then you have one of two things happening or a combination of both. First, go to the Study Hall and study everything you can find on "gain staging", and then apply all that knowledge.
Improper gains are usually the culprit. Second, computers have varying qualities of audio hardware with a strong leaning towards the low end of the scale. If you're having problems with an unbalanced tonality icepick highs, rumbly low-mids, or whatever , remember that speaker placement within the space will effect their tonality due to interactions with the space.
Also, since these speakers will give you exactly what you feed them, the source material is the key. As you're talking about YouTube and the like, you have no control over the actual source. Perhaps some judicious application of EQ would help, although I can't remember a time where I've had to tweak the EQ more than a few dB on any band and I don't think I've ever had to do so in the higher ranges. That being said, I don't run the same source material as you do.
To summarize, I deploy my systems in this manner: 1. Ensure the system gain structure is within reason. Deploy your speakers in an appropriate manner. Feed the system with a decent, well-balanced source. Enjoy the results. The the problem with making recommendations about home hi-fi is that its way more subjective then live sound. The objective points that come to mind are: home speakers have a wide HF dispersion to maximize off axis frequency response: it sounds good when you are beside them.
PA speaker for the most part are designed to focus on an audience while attempting to create a 'dead spot' to minimize feedback.
The prx's 90x50 pattern may or may not satisfy your needs depending on room size, dimensions, listening position s. Logged George Chkhartishvili Jr. Revel is certainly no better in this department. Revel certainly is an exception to that.
Active crossover. With this sub some delay is added to the tops. Quote even on my speakers Mackie HR that have 3 different high-pass settings it was a nightmare for me to integrate them seamlessly with a sub in a room.
Room acoustics can be challenging in small venues as almost every musician and sound guy discovers. They would be a poor choice for your intended usage. I'm not sure how either would fair given your budget constraints, but they are certainly worth a look. While the PRX is a good sounding box, your stated normal listening range of four feet may be a bit close.
I would recommend auditioning the boxes at that distance to be sure. I don't know how you can make a judgement of their sound by reading specs or looking at a picture of the phase plug. If you are as serious about the sound as you appear to be, hiring a qualified audio installation professional is the proper route. Audio is a complicated subject, and it takes many years of study to even come close to mastering it. It's never as easy as "buy these speakers and everything will be great.

Studio Monitors in my bedroom Mixing Conditions. Re: Studio Monitors in my bedroom Mixing Condition. Of course it sounds different. You have shifted your listening position in the room. You have shortened the time the reflections take to get from your monitors to the walls, then to your ears. And no matter how much you want to think it, you are not only hearing your monitors, but the rooms interaction with your monitors. But there is nothing wrong with that.

Genelec take an unusual approach to speaker design for this distinctive three—way monitor. In the years since, I have come across very few monitors that, to my ears, have equalled let alone surpassed that early Genelec, and those that did were, like the A, well outside my budget. Oblivious to my budgetary woes, Genelec continued to develop the A through B and C versions until it was superceded by the A in Crossover points are Hz and 2. This helps ensure that you have a consistent monitor environment to work in, even in challenging acoustics. My initial listening tests were carried out after running in the A for around 12 hours, and before carrying out any calibration.
