I've found they will give you exactly what you feed them. They handle these quiet situations and some loud ones with grace. If you're having problems with hiss, then you have one of two things happening or a combination of both. First, go to the Study Hall and study everything you can find on "gain staging", and then apply all that knowledge.

Improper gains are usually the culprit. Second, computers have varying qualities of audio hardware with a strong leaning towards the low end of the scale. If you're having problems with an unbalanced tonality icepick highs, rumbly low-mids, or whatever , remember that speaker placement within the space will effect their tonality due to interactions with the space.

Also, since these speakers will give you exactly what you feed them, the source material is the key. As you're talking about YouTube and the like, you have no control over the actual source. Perhaps some judicious application of EQ would help, although I can't remember a time where I've had to tweak the EQ more than a few dB on any band and I don't think I've ever had to do so in the higher ranges.
