Clarity on Speakers and Receiver Post by yester64 » 18 Aug Hello all, i struggle for some time with the question if i bought the wrong receiver or speaker. Here is what i have. Now originally i was thinking watts should match but for some reason, at least i think, there is no really loud sound.

I have to crank it up to the scale of 70 to actually hear things. Have to admit that i do not understand the specs to see what matches. So maybe this is normal and ok and i just think wrong. The sound is good but i wonder if its normal to have to crank it that high to actually play louder. If so, that would be your problem. This receiver was not designed to be used with a turntable.

If it was, one of the input connections on the back, would be labeled "phono". You need to purchase a separate phono preamp, to connect between the turntable and the receiver.. You will then get much greater volume, along with proper tonality. Re: Clarity on Speakers and Receiver Post by knotscott » 19 Aug You will have more than enough power once you hook up a phono preamp to your TT.

You need a phono preamp. STOP trying to use the turntable until you get a correct phono preamp. Hamlet Act 1. I am not talking about my TT here. I have to dial always up to 70 on the dial to actually hear it. That is my problem. All i want to know is, if my receiver is not delivering what is needed so that you can hear the speaker at a lower dial rate.

Re: Clarity on Speakers and Receiver Post by pivot » 19 Aug Are you using another source, CD player or radio tuner, to test your output level? Are you sure you have the speakers properly connected and you have the correct speaker output selected? Do you have a plug in the headphone socket?

You should have enough power to drive your speakers very loud. Try the tuner or a CD player. I suspect you have something set incorrectly or you have something plugged in incorrectly. When in doubt, read the manual. Contact Yamaha customer support if reading the manual does not yield anything. The amp has fairly high power output, the speakers are reasonably efficient, so as Lenjack stated, even 10 watts should give you plenty of volume.

Time to start tracing the cause Is there a mute or a volume filter on? If so, make sure you don't have it switched on. Just checked your speaker manual. Are you using the bi-amping connection? That may be the problem. So it wouldn't seem all too surprising, that one will need to turn the volume up higher than usual. That said, the Yamaha should still be powerful enough to let those Fluance speakers play pretty loud - although a phono stage with regular gain around 35 dB might not suffice to drive the Yamaha to its maximum power output.

Greetings from Munich! Board index.

I've had this receiver for about a year powering my record player set up. I loved it until now. Occasionally, it wouldn't turn on and I would just reset the power strip with no issues. Now, I turn in on and it turns off after 3 seconds. There's no error indication on the display, looks normal before shutting off.

Da bi ste ostavili recenziju morate biti prijavljeni. The R-S was created by taking advantage of this rich experience and high technological expertise. Even though it is an entry model, it reproduces high sound quality and musically rich sound. Positioning the power transformer near the power amp circuit reduces power loss while improving peak power supply capacity to enable high volume output. The result is sound filled with clarity and a feeling of openness.

Any information you may have that will help direct me in the right path to fixing this problem would be very much appreciated.

Known as one of the few manufacturers who constantly make high quality stereo receivers, Yamaha now offers new models, that not only feature great functionality but also added network capabilities. The Yamaha R-N is a compelling choice for anyone looking for a stereo receiver with high functionality and a very good sound. Yamaha currently have six models in their lineup of stereo receivers. We have listened to the R-N briefly and concluded that this is a very functional and high-quality stereo receiver, and it also indicated the direction of how stereo receivers may be built and used in the future. Here however, we will take a look and listen to the smaller model, the R-N , which has a limited range of features and functionality, but at a much lower price.

For those who wanted to listen to music on something better than a boombox or small speaker, the Yamaha R-S was the perfect blend of low price and great sound. Like the previous model, the R-S features two channels at 8 ohms and a claimed watts per channel, with a frequency range of 40Hz to 20kHz. While this is only a stereo receiver, it does feature A and B speaker pairs that can be run in tandem for a basic multiroom setup.
