Audio Forums. Burmester Pre-Amp worth repairing? Hi, this is my first post. Just moved house and came across my old Burmester Pre-Amp. It was quite a respectable pre-amp in its day. There is no one doing it in the UK at the moment according to the Burnmester website. But it is worth contacting Metropolis Music or Sounds of Music as they might be able to sort you out. Depending what's wrong with it, a decent engineer may be able to sort it out.
Burmester have been imported by a few companies over the years. They never had the same sucess as some other high end brands. If I remember right, Absolute sounds used to import them in the early 80s. Thanks for the input. I think I bought the Burmester from Subjective Audio in the late s or early s. Burmester preamp fun Yesterday I finally got round to replacing the worn out stepped attenuator in my old Burmester , and decided to replace the few electrolytic caps at the same time. The new stepped attenuator was a 10Kohm series SMD device, in place of the old 10Kohm series discrete attenuator. This has removed all of the scratchy noise I used to hear when changing volume.
