We organize and sponsor numerous lectures, workshops and conferences over the course of the academic year. Our programming covers a wide range of topics and features presenters from diverse disciplines and is designed to foster an understanding of the mass media and emerging media. CB Cares Educational Foundation offers guidance, support, and initiatives aimed at nurturing more open communication between parents and children.

This takes place in the form of discussion forums, social opportunities, educational programs, communication channels, resources, and guidelines, aimed at helping parents and youth to better understand and interact with each other. Parent Positive is a free speaker series that provides expert speakers that offer guidance around relevant parenting issues to create a venue for community conversations.

CB Cares Educational Foundation offers home and school associations, parent councils, school counselors, and other community organizations a large selection of parent education workshops, ranging from drug and alcohol issues, to stress reduction in the family, adolescence, health and wellness, technology, backpack safety, homework tips, and more.

Sydney Speaker Series and Washington IDEAS Forum

Now in its 22nd season, the series welcomes experts from an array of fields into private homes to talk about their experiences. Yubas has been a member of the Celebrity Salons planning committee for five years and this year marks her third year of chairing the series. What is unique about the series is that they are held in relatively intimate settings - private homes throughout the County - with speakers who are experts in their fields of entertainment, business, food and wine, home, art and music, literature, media, politics, sports and education. Guests also have the opportunity to meet and speak with students who have been recipients of scholarship funds so they can see firsthand the impact that their dollars have.

Astronaut Scott Kelly recently returned from space, but he will speak on May His presentation will begin at 8 p. This is the 49th year of the series. Her interests had always been centered around cooking and baking and her business idea involved cookies dipped in chocolate. Although she was disappointed not to win, her evocative brand name and the delicious idea turned into a concrete business while she was still in school and inspired her to reach higher. Undaunted, and with the encouragement of her NFTE teacher and program manager, she increased her cookie sales, through pop up shops, until she was able to cover the cost of college and put herself through school.
