Had a few moments to plug in Going to listen to what everyone has been up to now. Thank you very much Kris! I haven't learned the right way to play it so maybe that is the reason for fresh perspective. There were also some chords that had almost too much stretching to my fingers I have included some pics as requested.

Shortscale Guitars A place for the string slingers, pedal freaks and amp snobs in our midst. It's the one-pickup version. Been looking for a Fender shortscale a while. Vintage market is kind of a drag, anything from the 60s, no matter how awful and worn people are aking crazy prices for. I just feel I'll get more for my money another route.
I played one of the Chinese Mustangs at a shop, decent guitar but lots of unbranded hardware and not the best feel. I didn't plug it in.
They do custom dano-style guitars with those brilliant old necks for ish. I'm sure to love what they come up with but It might be too similar to my current Dano.
Kind of looking to get sustain and less 'constriction' in the sound. Damned Vintage Fender market drove me here. Finished Mustang style neck and body made in the states for ish. There is a muff warmoth thread, sduck jlr and others seem quite pleased with their work. I'm a little worried about setting the neck though I've done it on numerous strats.

There are tons of Mustangs and Jaguars available now compared to 5 or 10 years ago, for example, and for all kinds of budgets. You could also check shortscale. I remember this because I was briefly very excited about it as this was a time when offset guitars were scarce, but that excitement vanished the moment I picked the guitar up and I felt about as ridiculous as anyone playing a ukulele appears.
I would love to spend less. My main guitar is a semisolidbody I like the tone and feel of my MIJ 80s Strat. Generally I like solidbodies and singlecoils. Weight is also a big factor me. Most Jaguars are too heavy. Skulking around for a Peavey T or 30 today. I've always loved those guitars and they still go cheep I can afford a total overhaul if necessary. In addition to a short scale, I also need a thin neck. To me, a Precision Bass is like trying to play a telephone pole.
Fortunately, over the years I have been able to acquire a number of short scale basses. But, in my searches, there aren't many choices. Although you might get lucky and not really need anything done - the first warmoth I built just needed a slight truss rod tightening, which I tried to do, figuring I could always take it in if I screwed it up, but I got lucky and got it right on the first try the second one needed a bit more. The Mustang is lighter, and in terms of tone sounds good too. Mine is from the 60's, but the reissues aren't bad, and if you swap out the pickups will be fine. If the tone of the Danelectro is an issue have you tried it through a Zvex Superhardon?
That improves the tone on almost anything, it really is a great pedal. For really 'weedy' tone even going through a Sansamp can bring you closer to something you may like, I've used this a few times to beef up a cheap Gretsch I have. Pedals may be worth a look as an option, and the Zvez SHO is always on my pedalboard now, no matter which guitar I'm playing.

There a lot of them floating around used. As far as Subway goes I'd be cautious. I've heard too many stories that Fatdawg can be a pain in the ass to deal with, and their website hadn't been updated in years the last time I checked it out a year or so back.

It usually means 24" scale, and there are several easy to find guitar models with this scale length most notably from Fender. Two great guitars that are 24" scale are the Fender Jaguar and Mustang. As mentioned above, the Jaguar has a fairly large body though but it's a great guitar , and the Mustangs' bodies are much smaller.
You should definitely try a Mustang, there are some very decent ones produced by Squier now Squier make awesome instruments for the price these days, they're really entry-level Fender and definitely worth considering. I have a lot of respect for the Japanese-made Fender products, including strats and tele's.

All the mustangs were pretty cool. The tuners really feel like a dated design but the body and neck are phenomenal. One of the pots is loosely mounted so I'll check out the wiring when I get to that. Maybe pics. My 80s strat had weak electronics.
I have large hands and it has never been a problem. It took some getting used to. Not only being half the size but also being fretless. I love it though.
