Snell Acoustics made some pretty amazing speakers in the U. Now it's gone. Snell Acoustics never strayed from its core principles. The company, founded by Peter Snell in , continued to manufacture high-end loudspeakers in Massachusetts until this year. I had it for eight years. Peter was a perfectionist about the sound and the build quality of his speakers.

Description: Come educate yourself about Title IX and other workplace issues. The format of the event will be a discussion about various situations students may ago through and how to best deal with them.
This will be an inactivate event so attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and get more familiar will the topics covered. At this workshop, you will discuss what it means to be a volunteer, receive a quick training session, have a feedback discussion, brainstorm some new activities, and complete necessary forms.

GWISE will be hosting a lunch and hands -on activity for about 25 highschool girls. NanoDays is a museum-wide celebration of nanoscale and quantum science. To help you with the final stretch of the semester, we will host our annual cookie decorating event on Tuesday, December 12th. We will provide biscuits, frosting and hot beverages. Bring your captivating conversation, meet new friends, and create the cookie of your dreams! We will host the event over the afternoon, feel free to stop by at your convenience.
The purpose of this award is to enable students to present their work at scientific conferences to gain exposure to exciting fields and well-respected researchers. In addition, we encourage all awardees to serve as ambassadors to increase the visibility and influence of women in STEM. If you want to get involved in future events, participate in Outreach with local Boston area students and figure out what we do, come join us!
Some of our favorite events were the Girl Scout STEM Conference and Expo, where we built small motors with young female scientists, and NanoDays at the Museum of Science, where we led activities in nanoscale science and engineering for kids at the museum.
Calling all new graduate students! During the first hour, we will have a panel of experienced graduate students from different colleges speaking about classes, selecting an advisor, work-life balance, living in Boston, and anything else you have questions about!
This event is especially valuable for new and current graduate students. Attendees will be exposed to research resources available at Northeastern, including online, in-person, and software resources like EndNote and Mendeley. Starting September 16, and continues every other Wednesday. We will be leading exciting science and engineering projects for year olds every other Wednesday afternoon from to for the fall semester.
Get kids excited about science! The scholarship fund will be a travel award for our members to attend and present their research at conferences. Tuesday, April 7 from — 2nd floor of Stearns. We ended the semester with a bang and celebrated getting back the sleep we lost over the Fall semester with a Holiday Social and cookie decorating party. Cookies, sprinkles and colored icing kept everyone in good cheer! We elected officers for the academic year and polled attendees on their interest levels for our proposed events and volunteer activities. Professor Alan Zaremba from Communication Studies and Diane Ciarletta from Career Services gave minute presentations on effective oral presentations. Professor Zaremba presented on general techniques and common mistakes of presenters, while Mrs. Ciarletta focused on scientific presentations. GWISE arranged tours of three research labs for 8thth-grade girls from local Boston schools.
Then, we had a panel discussion with GWISE members where the girls asked questions on topics including college admissions, graduate school, research, personal life, etc. Then, there was time for networking with their representatives and among the attendees. GWISE members participated in judging, and set up a table with a grip strength demonstrations for all the participants to enjoy. Most recently Hannah joined Wayfair to build out their strategy to attract top talent at the PhD level for their ever-growing Data Science team. Although she is not a Data Scientist, Hannah has enjoyed learning all the ways Data Science impacts not only the work done at Wayfair, but within other industries as well through all of the interesting PhD students she has crossed passed with so far since taking on this new venture! Joyce loves solving problems strategically and quantitatively.
She enjoys using physics methodology to unveil the secrets buried under complex data sets. Why should you come? The 3MT is an academic competition that challenges PhD students to describe their research within three minutes , with one static slide.
If you wish to present your doctoral work, you will need to submit an abstract of your thesis words. The abstract submission deadline is on Monday, October 1st , at midnight.

During her Ph. During her postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics she developed and deployed wideband digital receiver systems for the Event Horizon Telescope, a global distribution of sub-mm radio telescopes poised to make the first radio image of a black hole. At STR, Dr. Vertatschitsch continues to deepen her expertise through system design, control, and signal processing for distributed, multi-function sensors.
While at Brown, Ms. Weiner studied machine learning with a focus on Bayesian nonparametrics. She also spent two years as a researcher at MIT Lincoln Laboratory where she focused on network analysis and computer vision.
