Sony xplod cfd-g700cp cd/radio/cassette boombox speakers

I have owned both the current and previous models of this Sony unit. All features and functions work well within the configurations of a portable stereo unit. For my own description I would not necessarily say this is a "compact" unit. It is a full size box with many functions and features to enhance listening performance. It is heavy to carry around and is best suited for me, anyway to sit upon a shelf in my work area. Everyone likely has their own preferences for sound quality and this unit seems to suit my needs well.

Great boomer box. Good sound for the size. Heavier but not to heavy. Would recommend if you are looking for a great beach boomer or picnic boomer box. This is a great boombox, hands down. The sound is clear and full, the bass is rich, and each of the functions radio, CD player, cassette player, etc.

I ordered this primarily because it will play a CD full of MP3 files. It took me a bit of playing with the "Mode" button to figure out how to make the "shuffle" feature work, but it does work, and that makes it really nice I also wanted the ability to plug something into it, and they make it sweet because they provide a male 3.

However, external devices that plug into it don't seem as loud as the boombox is capable of pushing out. Even though the other reviewers gave it 5-stars, they still had complaints. What comes out is pure, and rich, and smooth That's not to say it isn't loud But in a large room, at full volume, using an external device, it just doesn't seem to be as loud as when I play a CD on it. But, as we all know, it's easier to complain than it is to praise.

I've not seen another quality boombox for this price, so my complaints are minor. It has tremendous deep Bass sound and the treble notes are very good. I can hear distinctly every note played without distortion no matter how loud I play the cassettes and CDs.

I really appreciate the fact that it has a remote, and one can play the music using a power cord, which saves on the 8 batteries that it also comes with. One can increase the bass with two woofer settings, but it is not needed. One can program the tracks in any order or play "shuffle" which the player picks and chooses the tracks at random.

Th3e only drawbacks that I see in this product is that the LED window to read the CD number being played is not lit, so it is a little difficult to see. Maybe this shortcoming may be corrected in future models. Also, if one wants to program the tracks to be played, it involves a little more time and effort to do so than previous models.

But, it is still easy to do. It programs up to 15 tracks if one wants to program them; whereas, my prior cheaper Sony boombox programed up to 25 tracks. It is a little heavy. But all of this is mitigated by the superior performance of this product.

But, all in all, this is the best Boombox that I ever had, and the sound comes close to my stereo compnent CD player. I walked into various electronic stores to find one that equals this, and could not find one. Some had less sound. Others had a power cord, but did not play cassettes.

Others played only with batteries which I would find very expensive in the long run because batteries do not last long, and the players take multiple batteries. I often play this boombox outside in my pastio where I sit back, or lay back, and relax while I listen to my collection of CD and Casstte music.

I am very happy with this product. I use it in a gym full of kids and the music fills the gym. Good stuff Sony! When I took this beast out of the box and powered it up my wife thought I was crazy. No surprise there. But even I had my doubts.

I mean c'mon, the thing looks like a throwback, like it should be in a Superfly movie or something. Everything about it is ridiculous: the big "X" in the front, the red lights, the little tiny display. A cassette player is pretty retro, but a cassette recorder? Even the fact that it plays MP3 CDs is a little yesterday. Did I mention I'm old?

Basically, the only feature that keeps this monster current is the audio input jack. That makes it available for use as an audio amplification system for anything you can plug into it. That's its bottom-line selling point. I'm currently experimenting with how many nails it will rattle out of the walls.

Just kidding about that part, but it probably could -- with very little distortion. It gets nicely loud. It's great for back yard soirees and working in the garden. I can hear it over my table saw, even my jack hammer. My neighbors love me -- those that are inclined to dance anyway. If Sony ever comes out with a model with a USB jack that powers a portable hard drive I'll be all over it. As long as it lights up :- I docked it a star because I'm actually on my second unit.

The first one fell all of 30 inches off a table onto a carpeted floor and died. So be careful -- it's a sensitive beast. I was looking for a new boombox to replace my old one, mostly to listen FM radio stations at home.

I live in Toronto, Canada. Amazon had this item in stock and the delivery to Canada would be free. So I ordered it and it was delivered timely by UPS. It has an easy to understand manual. The sound is really great. I can receive about 20 FM stations from where I am without any background noise and this boombox let me preset up to 20 FM stations. Perfect match for me. I switch the stations easily using the remote which comes with the boombox. I played a few of my old CD's and Cassettes as well.

Everything is like in the reviews. I am very happy with this boombox and definitely recommend it to people with similar expectations with me. Product Packaging.

Check to make sure that the boombox is plugged in. Without a power source the boombox will be unable to function. Your boombox may be powered by batteries instead of a power cord. If this is the case try replacing the batteries using the battery replacement guide. Make sure you have either the radio, cassette player or CD player running properly. If one of them is running but there is still no sound the volume might not be turned up.
