Does anyone know what kind of connection is at the turntable end of the phono cables on this unit? The drawing almost looks like there may be a din-5 plug, but I'm thinking it may be soldered. I know that it should be easy to look for myself, but the turntable location and hook up is a nightmare in this case.

It was soon followed by the Beomaster receiver, a wedge-shaped miracle with touch-sensitive switches in an era of clunky knobs and casework, that in turn was followed by equally remarkable designs. Its novel tangential tonearm was one of the first successful implementations of a technology that challenges engineers even today. Eliminating tracking error and distortion, the pencil-sized wand glides toward the center of the spindle at right angles to the record grooves, in the same fashion as the head that cuts the wax master.
The suspension absorbs shock and vibration, eliminating feedback common to turntable designs of the time. Its brushed aluminum plinth and platter, unvarnished teak trim and a sleek dust cover expressed a modern aesthetic that was years ahead of its time.
With its looks, performance and rarity, the Beogram has been sought out by collectors in the decades since the last unit came off the line in Challenging them has been the non-availability of repair parts, and the phono cartridge that was exclusive to the tonearm, which is available only through one cartridge manufacturer, Soundsmith of New York. The turntable is presented in a handcrafted, solid oak box with aluminum fittings. Every Beogram , carefully acquired by the manufacturer following a global search for excellent original units, gets a new lease on life when it returns to the same factory in Struer, Denmark, where it was produced nearly 50 years ago.
For the restoration process, every Beogram returns to where it was produced nearly 50 years ago. Cosmetically, the new c gets a subtle modern update, with original aluminum parts polished and anodized in a warm champagne tone, as opposed to the cool, natural silver anodize of the original. A new, removable dust cover encloses the unit during playback and when not in use. The trim, originally teak, is replaced with a new solid oak frame.
With an eye toward the future, the product engineers of the original Beogram allotted some space inside the chassis to accommodate potential technology upgrades, and that provided the current design team with sufficient vacant real estate to add a built-in phono preamplifier to the package. This is important, as most modern integrated amps and one-box systems, and certainly powered speakers, do not include the required RIAA equalization to allow a turntable to be connected directly, without going from a dedicated phono preamplifier into a control preamplifier.

If has taught us anything, it's that the past was great. The refurbed turntable now sports an RIAA phono pre-amplifier, making it easy to connect the turntable to modern speakers using a phono or 3. The deck's exterior has been polished up, too. The aluminium accents have been polished and anodised in a warmer 'champagne' tone, and there's a new hand-crafted solid oak frame. An improved dust lid protects the platter when not in use. Each one is individually numbered and supplied in a solid oak box, which will please your postman no end.
Should I buy a Bang & Olufsen BeoGram TX2?
Simply an awesome turntable. Uber cool in every way. And the sound is so vintage vinyl. By a cheap cartridge on Ebay or Craig's List and have Axel put on a new stylus and suspension. He does a beautiful job and it sounds awesome. If you see one, grab it! The best feature of this turntable is its ease of use, as it is fully automatic.

The record deck was a nice-looking item nevertheless and was bought by individuals who wanted more of choice as to what they were offered. Beogram TX2 could thus be purchased with any of the MMC1 - an MMC5 range of cartridges, dependant on personal preference, as the deck was sold without one. The record deck was based upon the Beogram and was withdrawn for sale after a five-year period, which was a good life span for any product in a continually changing world of technology. Beogram TX2 Type was manufactured specially for the North American market when it was fitted with a V built-in transformer but no switching for any other electrical voltages.
