1x4 cb amplifier
Before going into realities about Encoders and Decoders , let us have a concise thought regarding Multiplexing. Regularly we go over applications where it is expected to nourish a few input signals to a solitary load, each at once. This procedure of choosing one of the input signals to be fed to the load is known as Multiplexing. The invert of this operation, i. Similarly in a digital domain, for simplicity of transmission of information, the information is regularly scrambled or set inside codes and afterward, this secured code is transmitted.

Linear amps for sale

But reading more about amps in here I can't help but wonder if I should have gone with the 2x4 instead.
What is the real difference other than the number of transistors, obviously between the two? The Dave Made site as well as Mr. RA state that the 1x4 will do watts peak at 15vdc. But they do not list the 2x4 specs at all. Does the 2x4 put out more power? Or is it something else that makes it better?
What should my DK be for driving these amps? RA set my low power setting to drive a Dave Made, but I don't know what he set it to. One more question for ya'll. These amps come with the knob for variable out put.
In real usage, how should the knob be adjusted? All the way at all times? Why would you ever want anything less than max?
Or does running it full out risk or reduce the amp life? Thanks, LM the amp newbie. Everything else is just a toy!! The only difference is the how many watts you are using to drive the final 4 pills with. If you have a radio that swings big you are already producing much of the watts to drive the 4 pill and only need the 1 pill driver in the amp. If you have a radio that doesn't produce much power or swing I think the 2x4 is better because the driver section 2 pills amplify the signal more to fully drive the 4 pill final section.
Just run the variable wide open I've been told using the variable at less can actually lessen the amp life. Of course to run it wide open you should make sure your radio and amp are deadkeying right. To much deadkey from the amp will shorten its life also. I think you want between percent of your total swing as deadkey. Disclaimer: This is my understanding I am not a technician or expert. Mike at RA said they set the low power setting for an amp, but this was before I understood what that even meant.
Since then I've read that the radio and amp should be tuned match each other. Sounds like if the radio DK is too high you could fry the amp, but if it's too low you're not getting the full swing out of the amp.
That's why I'm having trouble understanding how my radio's low power DK could have been set for an amp when I didn't even know what amp I was going to drive with it?? Anyhow, I hope it is as I was told by the tech at RA set to work correctly with the 1x4 that's on it's way.
As I suspected, the 2x4 is not really all that much more output. I also suspected that running the variable power at full is the normal way to run it. Thanks for the feedback guys.
A 1x4 or a 2x4. The 2 pill driver will give you about watts more peak. RMS it is only 25 watts. Not enough to be noticeable at the other end. Also the 2 pill driver requires more amps.
If your system is weak the extra amps will definitely let you know. General rule of thumb is Open variable all the way and use variable on radio to adjust DK. I like about a watt DK and let it swing. On an Astatic 3 Meter it will hit a maybe watts. I have not used a general lee, so I am not familiar with the RMS output power. That is why I like my old GTL and similar style chassis.
Well I just bought a Davemade 2x4 from RA I hope my tractor can handle it! I know my VW won't It's only got a 90A alternator! And my pickup only has a A one, I have found.. And that's a shame too But oh well.. Maybe I shoulda just got a 1x Crusher wrote: I like about a watt DK and let it swing. Slvbeard wrote: Crusher wrote: I like about a watt DK and let it swing.
I believe most techs setup dk 2watts for most applications if running an amp. The 1x4 will eat less amperage and will put out slightly less not being driven as hard.
Also, the 1x4 MAY run cooler than the 2x4. In the long run, this MAY help your setup last a little longer. In my experience, you can run all out and do the trick, or back off a little, keep things cool and happy radio, amp, charging system and nobody on the RX end will notice a difference except at extreme distances and this is if they are really watching the meter. I have a TS 4x and posted a question about driving it with a 1 pill which is like the V.
Found out that it would be much harder on the 'front end' of my TS , and believe it or not with that driver it would not have as much audio!! Anyway, hope I stayed on track with the post. Jesus asked him, "What is your name? I have a x 1x4 X Force everything is optimal as far a s the install goes although, I'm seeing only about watts from my amp vs the proposed is my problem most likely a weak pill?
No,infact, everything is fine. Just wasted watts. A 2x4 is ridiculous, all your doing is making a tech more money by driving your equipment too hard. Heck, even a 1x4 is not needed most of the time. The only time a driver is required is when your radio couldn't possibly swing high enough on PEP numbers to drive it. For most people that is a 6 pill or larger.
Check out the Specs of what's needed to Drive a and what their capable of Too many wishful watts claimed by these CB amp builders It may look good on the meter, but when you factor in all the crap being sprayed all over the spectrum, if i can't use it on the channel i am talking on there's no sense in transmitting it A watt device is a watt device And it only takes Watts PEP per pill to get them to full output I've been led to believe that the 1x4 vs the 2x4, the 1x4 is a better design, the Fatboy site doesn't show the 2x4 anymore.
Now I'm not saying one is better than the other but I agree with others that nobody at the other end is going to tell the difference. Typically I personally like 2. With my amp on in my mobile, I draw 40 amps upon dking and haven,t noticed much over a amp draw even when pushing it hard, I run a amp alternator on my Toyota truck.
I do run my variable wide open and never touch it, realistically I think it shows around PEP, it all depends on which meter makes you feel good LOL. No matter what, sounds like your going to have a very nice set-up there and you'll enjoy that.
Chester There isn't much of a safety factor there with a small radio, and if you use the 40 watt Radio's or Bigger forget it I don't care what the Amp builders say about 40 watts of swing into a 1x It's rediculous All it takes is Watts of usable power to drive these 1x4's cleanly After that it's just spurious garbage all over the spectrum.
