I've heard some Bugeras and was pretty impressed with them Beringer today is not the Beringer of way back in the "if it don't explode when you turn it on, you got a good one' days Beringer builds some good stuff now.
The electronics fab facility builds a lot of stuff for a lot of companies. But yet Beringer and affiliates are shunned by a lot of folks I have a couple of rack units effects and dig EQ that I have used for several years with zero issues They work very well It is just hard to shake a bad rep for the most part One of the cleanest shows I've heard was a Beringer X32 board with no real outboard gear.
It sounded incredible. The slider munky evidently knew how to run it Very clean and articulate Many folks used to laugh at Peavey stuff too because it wasn't classy or good enough May not have been 'classy or good enough' for some but that old stuff is still out there and working great A late bud of mine bass and I don't drop names had one of the early Marshall Bass stacks After a few tour blowups he dumped it.
He used SVTs, dumped em. He became a Peavey endorser waaay back and never went back to other amps. Loved Peavey They never failed him, not once Tell a steel player their old ass Peavey sucks and see what happens Some folks have odd views on some brands Just is I well remember telling folks that came into my late big bro's shop in the early 70's to try a Traynor. Play it. It's either good or ain't Bugera amps I've heard sounded very nice Joined Sep 2, Messages 4, Reaction score 6, I dunno about the current crop of amps, but the old ones had terrible reliability.
That stink can hang on for a long time. Last edited: Apr 12, Joined Mar 14, Messages 18, Reaction score 38, Lots of features including reverb and an effects loop! It sounds great and is very versatile. I got mine at MF I switched out the preamp tube, 12AX7 , to a 12AT7 to tame the gain a bit. Also the clean channel sounds a bit more sparkley now! Bugera is making great sounding, nicely built amps for great prices. Thumpalumpacus Senior Member. Joined Nov 28, Messages 76, Reaction score , Thumpalumpacus said:.
No doubt, and I'll be the first to admit I was one who thought like that. I was playing bass in a Jimi tribute back in the 90s. The drummer, who owned the PA, decided to replace his powered Peavey 8-track with a Behringer board and power amps. That board was crap, and lasted three or four gigs before we went back to that old-ass Peavey. So when Bugera came out about ten years ago -- before the issues with fire started -- I was still very skeptical of their quality.
I was one of those who carried over impressions. I have a Behringer digital delay that's about as useful as a wet cat in a stunt plane, what with its latency and coloration. Believer Junior Member. I've used them for 3 years now. Not scared of Bugeras at all, in fact I recommend them as solid, low-buck amps. Dolebludger Senior Member. Joined Feb 11, Messages 16, Reaction score 16, Back in , I bought a V22 at GC, because it had the sweetest tone of any "grab and go" 12" combo. My first one developed the channel switching problem mentioned by Johnny N above. Took it back and exchanged it for 2, which went back in an hour for tube rattle. Now, the "V" stands for vintage, so the drive channel is pretty mild.
But it takes drive pedals very well. According to info I have, reliability has greatly improved since My guess is that for heavy "on the road" gigging, they may not be sturdy enough to take it. But for practice and local gigging they should be fine. Gold Supporting Member. Joined May 29, Messages 11, Reaction score 28, Even with our dollar, they're still cheap.
I like the T5 Infinium head and the V5 combo. BadPenguin Senior Member. Joined Jun 12, Messages 1, Reaction score 1, I've tried about a dozen of them, from new ones at a GC, to pawn shop finds.
The new ones, ALL had issues. Yes, I know, GC stock gets hit with teenage "respect" for equipment, but still The used ones, owned by people who respect the equipment, were fine. They don't sound bad to my ears, but it's not the tone I seek.
Gundecker Senior Member. Joined Aug 13, Messages Reaction score I have a Vintage 55 HD head I picked up in a pawnshop. It could probably stand a tube change or upgrade. I have had zero reliability issues with it. I've never gigged it but take it to my jam night with friends on occasion.

Please note that effective immediately we have updated the Emporium Rules for payment options. In the past, we had required people to use Paypal to head off attempted fraud, which has been a concern for many years. However, we are coming into a new era with people doing different manners of monetary transactions. Essentially, we'll no longer require anyone to be tied to Paypal only; people can now use whatever payment they want, but we want to let people know they are on their own. The rule is below as it now reads and will be enforced. The biggest shift is below in BOLD. Buyer Beware. All transactions are between the two private parties only.
