What's New? Log in. Remember Me? KLH Vintage Speakers??? Results 1 to 21 of I picked up these KLH speakers at a thrift shop today. I believe they're from the late 80's. They are KLH Model professional series. They're in pretty good shape. Any info would be appreciated. Attached Images. Those look early 80s late 70s to me. I can't really offer any other info though.
Have you tried them out? How do they sound? I'm still using Pioneer and Yamaha stuff from the 90s in my house. They sound great. I was going to use them in my garage stereo set up with a Pioneer receiver.

My buddy still using his similar age Klipsch Heresy's. They had a light colored grill cloth which I don't think was removable. My parents had a console stereo Last edited by grabbergreen84; at PM. Over , miles driven in Four Eyes, and over , in Fox Body cars. I'd love to bust out my Dynaco stuff from the attic and set up in the garage. Go for it. There's nothing like tunes when you're working on the car.
A subwoofer was pretty much unheard of. Back in the s and s Very smooth, but not much bass. West Coast sound was typified by JBL speakers. A little boom warmth and sparkle. Later found to come from pretty good drivers but over-simple crossovers. Probably the most accurate overall. All are great for garage, surround amp for tv, pc. Lots of eye candy. Heavy duty quality materials were used back then on most everything, not cheapo circuit components and plastic.
The house lights dimmed when firing up some of these beasts. The best of today has nothing on them except for more inputs on even low end product good. Now rely on 'peak power', compression and loudness enhancement tricks of cd's for dynamic music reproduction. Era of small size and small satisfaction after a few hours of operation. Listening to FM on a late 70's Sony 4 channel setup right now.
Main living room system since Beam Box antenna still pegs signal strength with added FM signal amp even in this era of digital signal. A couple tuner dial lights are inop. Found one to be a 12v dome light bulb from a Japanese car! All lettering is intact. Most would be wore off by now. Would like to fix a Lafayette radio TA receiver, reluctantly retired back into its box. A pc with sound card eq and effects software is fun to use with them.
Like adding that arena concert echo that rattled the seats. Or what the concert sounded like in the waiting line for the bathroom More flexible than the grapic eq units just out of reach price wise back then.
The more speakers, the better. Got to push air for sound that vibrates furniture, floor, and you. Wire up the whole house for sound. Bathrooms too. Cover the farts. Don't miss that big sports play. Fire up a stick of incense too. Sound and aroma therapy. Like our cars. Replaced all woofers. Foam surrounds disintegrate over time, causing clicking and static.
Car audio subs, with the newer rubber surrounds, work great as replacement drivers. So do certain smaller premium speakers found in pic-a-part yards. Go online or to JoAnn fabrics for speaker cloth. Still use them in my office with a 's vintage Sony Amp. Sound is still Terrific.

Those are the two most essential keys to good sound - Power, and "multiplex" speakers woofers, mid-ranges, and tweeters in cabinets which produce a good timbre. I'm running a Kenwood 5. It'll make simulated 5. It sounds OK with my garbage-picked s, and donated but surely destined for the trash Radio Shack minis, and a garbage-picked center speaker.
I've never tried the fiber-optic TOS link? I can't say that stereo TV through an old-school stereo system was better than surround sound, but it was damn good - and way better than the onboard TV speakers I've also got a '70s era Panasonic quadraphonic 8 track player, and a couple of quadraphonic tapes.
But the Kenwood doesn't have any more than two RCA jacks per input - or any phono input. Did find some more on the KLH bookshelf speakers. Crossover 3, hz. Exactly 10x the price of your KLH Had no idea Maybe i should have waited a little longer for a deal Last edited by gr79; at AM. Those specs you give are spot on. These speakers look similar to the Infinity RS's. The cabinets are the same laminated oak look. Where did you get your info from?
Another member said the year of manufacture was This was around the same time that the Infinity's were big.
