My car speakers are making a crackling noise

I pulled the radio and and checked the plugs in the back and they looked fine. My next step is to take it to a car audio place. I'm having the same problem on my Alpine Cm only on all speakers. Originally I thought it was just a dirty volume control but I removed the switch and sprayed it with a contact cleaner and it was no better. So after doing some reading it maybe bad capacitors on the amp. Any ideas were this amp is located in a 92 E36 i? Its most likely on the passenger kick pad area but I don't even know what it looks like.

Any help would be appreciated. Sounds like you've got a bad speaker. Here's what you do, it's quite simple. Use your ear over each speaker and find the one that's making the crackling noise. Crackling sound from left front speaker

Imagine you are driving a car in beautiful weather and listening to your favorite music, and then you start hearing this annoying crackling noise coming out of your speakers. It happens so often, and many people are wondering why car speakers are crackling and how to prevent it. Car speakers are crackling mainly due to the bad connection between the speaker and the amplifier. Another reason for the speakers to crackle is damaged voice coils that can get in contact with the magnet. Also, speakers can crackle when the too powerful amplifier powers them, and in effect, voice coils try to move the cone beyond its limit. Are the back speakers connected to the stereo AND the amp? Does your stereo have RCA outputs? If not, to what did you connect the RCA cables?

These potential problems are easy to spot with a few simple tests and luckily the corresponding remedies are equally simple. In the grand scale of things, getting your left and right speakers mixed up is not a major problem. So, your car speakers are producing static noise and crackling sounds? There is nothing more annoying than expecting to chill to crisp and satisfying music from your car stereo only to hear static screeching from your speakers. Sound is sent to your car speakers using wires with electrical signals , which can be easily distorted by other signals from electrical devices like power lines. The issue is that anything that is capable of generating an electrical field can cause unwanted noise into a car audio system. You would be amazed at the numerous things in your car that can generate electrical fields, ranging from the windshield wiper motor to alternator to the actual sound components of your sound system.
