B&w 802 nautilus speakers specs
Although the styling is clearly based on its predecessor, the Nautilus , it has been revised and enhanced by changes to the plinth, the underside of the cabinet and the way the tweeter sits on the midrange enclosure. All three models that have aluminium plinths are supplied with roller glides for easy manoeuvrability. These may be replaced by optional heavy-duty feet if preferred. This new foot design is double-ended, with a spike for carpeted floors at one end and a clear, nonmarking rubber pad at the other for more vulnerable surfaces. A total of 1.

B&W (Bowers & Wilkins) Nautilus 802 Speakers in Cherry
Speaker Asylum General speaker questions for audio and home theater. Michael Percy Audio. My first visit to his house last year was in fact what introduced me to this gorgeous speakers. I read lots of negative stuff about the N on this forum. The most common complaint is that the treble seems to "stick out" of the rest of the spectrum. After last night's listening, this is my opinion: Yes, N has this tendency. I say "tendency" because it all depends on what you feed it.
Listening to today's popular albums in the likes of Britney Spears pity this beauty, her songs all sound the same! But turning to my trusty "audiophile recordings", this explicit brightness turns into something I like so much -- clear depiction of ambience! The N gave me more sense of the space and reverberation, although I figured the recording in itself is on the dry side.
Valery Gergiev's take on "The Rite of Spring" Philips gave me one of the most powerful sound from a classical recording I've ever experienced. The N just won't give up to the intense dynamics, and delivers full-throttle while maintaining composure. What struck me, though, is the openness of the sound and the way it communicated the superb ambience of the Marinsky Theatre at St. Petersburg where it was recorded. This, again, is because of the superb tweeter. Oh yeah If I were to describe its sound in a word, it would be "revealing".
It will just let all your system's and recordings' faults through. If I did, then this would be much lengthier. Product Weakness: may be too revealing of faults keyword: bright IF your system is not up for it; bass response might be too "light" for large rooms Product Strengths: transparent sound; superb tweeter is very revealing of recorded ambience; quick transient response from bass to top octave; shelved-down bass response is friendly to most domestic setup except really small rooms; best midrange I've heard!

Detail locked in the recording comes bursting through. Violins and flutes ripple off to the left, the bass hangs low and a little to the right, while Morrison himself, beating the rhythm into his guitar, booms directly from the centre. A range of companies now produce eye-wateringly priced loudspeakers like these. Are such units really worth the money? To find out more, BBC Future decided to take a closer look at the engineering decisions that go into making one of these high-end loudspeaker designs, as well as the exotic ways they are tested — using everything from lasers to strange, noise-free chambers.
B&W Nautilus 802, how much do they need?
In fact, it was a pair of Nautiluses fed by McIntosh MC amplifiers and a Linn Sondek LP12 turntable that captivated me enough to leave my roots in car audio and get serious about home audio. However, as time passed and my listening experience grew, I came to classify the Nautilus as more a "love to own" than a "must own" speaker. Despite its sophisticated engineering and luxurious build quality, at some point I reluctantly realized that I was more impressed by what the embodied than by how it sounded, and I prefer that ratio to be reversed. Originally announced in late , the Diamond was released as one of an entirely new family of Series speakers, each of which has its own tube-loaded diamond tweeter. In , several of those design ideas came to fruition in a radical new speaker that used two cabinets, each containing a driver responsible for a particular frequency range.

It was perhaps no surprise the company attracted the attention of a Silicon Valley start-up, which acquired the business in But that's not to say the company has stood still; as this list testifies. Naturally for a speaker company, it's dominated by stereo speakers, but you'll also find headphones, an iPod dock and even a home cinema system.
