Vox AC30C2 vs. Alright, I'm sure this post has been done a number of times, but I don't feel like sifting through all the threads to find what I'm looking for. I'm sure that last part's been said a number of times, too. I know about the tonal differences. What I want to know about is the output differences. My band plays bar shows, outdoor shows think small amphitheaters, small parks, et cetera and medium sized halls that probably fit a few hundred people at max.

I want to know which has the better output if I can reduce it to that , or just the output differences. I like the AC30, but I'm worried that it won't be able to handle my effects.

We play alternative rock, I guess. Think Radiohead, post-rock, shoegaze, et cetera. I'd like the amp to have nice clean tones while still being able to handle heavier song parts.

I really don't know much about amp. Forgive my ignorance. I know that the Blues Deluxe is a 40watt amp, and the AC30C2 is a 30, but I'm wondering if there are differences in the makeup of the respective amps that contribute to greater output overall or in specific areas. Would both hold up for the shows I described without being mic'd?

Would one be better than the other in terms of output? The AC 30 is more like 40 watts and quite loud, louder then the fender. My Studio. I think the Fender takes pedals better - I haven't found a distortion pedal I like with the AC30 yet. Audition them both with your pedals. The AC30 is definitely louder and way heavier.

You might want to check out the AC15 also if you like the Vox sound. This is ridiculous; some of the most creative guitarists who use pedals a lot, use an AC That amp can handle anything you through at it. Love the Deluxe also though, to be honest, you need both.. Who Plays What Regardless or ridiculous, everyone's entitled to their opinions and I don't like distortion pedals with an AC That helps to inform me about the speakers in each, an area in which I'm not knowledgeable. Looks like the AC30 really puts out a lot of power and that I shouldn't worry about its output at all.

Very glad to hear this. So here's another question: would the AC15 be loud enough to cut over the drums and still have some headroom? It's a lot better on the price tag, so if it still has lots of power, why not? The amp is monstrously loud! To put it in to perspective. Every one went quite as soon as he started playing some riffs on that amp. Back in the 70s Brian May would have a wall of them all turned up to Can you imagine! If you're buying new, there are plenty of EL84 amps that outdo the CC for the Vox sound and take pedals well, but will cost slightly more.

Top Hat, Dr. Z, others come to mind. If you're looking at the Blues Deluxe, read the posts on various sites. Not sure about the new version, but pre there are a lot of issues from corners being cut on these amps to meet a price point - as well as a distortion sound that doesn't sound good to many.

I'd suggest throwing a Fender Deluxe Reverb into the mix vs. True Fender reverb, great sound, and takes pedals very well. Of all the more recent iterations, I prefer the CC2. I like and use the blend channels feature on the CC2, which is not available on the preceeding or current models.

So if you're open to used, you can save a few bucks. Get yourself a hand cart also. If you haven't checked out the Fender Supersonic 60W version - you might want to give that a look.

It can probably deliver the extra volume you're looking for. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll be sure to check all of these out. I've heard good things about Dr. It probably wont' be an amp that you'll pass down to your kids like an original AC30 would be, but that ship has sailed.

Hi rosewood, maybe i could help you with your decision. I recently bought the Vox ac30hw2x thats handwired with 2 alnico blue speakers Let me tell you that these amps are so ridiculously loud I wouldnt be worrying about output. My other amp is a marshall jcm stack so i know what loud is.

Ive had the marshall since I bought the vox for recording and gigging. The handwired ones have a half power switch so it toggles between 30w and 15w. I find the vox ac30 loves pedals. I have about 25 in my pedal board.

What i would say is it really loves an AMTss20 preamp. I have that running most of the time on the clean setting. Sounds great thru the marshall too. So summing up Great gigging amp great recording amp great at taking pedals Just my two cents worth If you got the cash go for the ac30hw2x I got mine used from Muso Frnd so they do come around at that kinda discount Now I don't have that around for using with dirty pedals but it loves a chorus and delay pedal a bunch.

James Lugo. I have an AC30C2 and it is incredible. Better then my old heritage hand wired by a mile.

I love it and it's loud and takes pedals forever. Thanks for all the great info! Lots of anecdotes in the positive sense here, and lots of good recommendations that I can busy myself with next time I'm at the music store.

A lot of you mention that the AC line doesn't take heavy or dirty pedals too well. It's a possibility that I'd run line selector into two amps: a fender solid state for distortion because I don't have all the money in the world to spend on another great tube amp , and cleans, delays, reverbs, et cetera into the AC. Any thoughts on this? And possibly overdrives into the AC as well. I think it'd make for some really chime-y overdrive tones. Top Mentioned Manufacturers. Facebook Twitter Reddit LinkedIn.

10 great valve combo guitar amps

Without a doubt, for vintage audio they are the three best amplifiers ever, true legends of tone. The teams that we will see here have marked the sound that our parents or even our grandparents grew up with. To start with the early classic amps, check out Fender, who defined vintage American audio. They are characterized by their clean and bell sound. They are tube amps with good headroom, that is, they keep the audio clean at high volumes. The popular Spring reverb is a trademark of the Blackface and later Fender lines. There are also other models that are characterized by other more medium and hoarse tones. An example is the Deluxe and the legendary Bassman, which is actually a bass amp that guitarists made their own. Other classic amplifiers par excellence are the Vox.

During the s, and of course up till now , Fender made some of the best guitar amplifiers on the market, and one of these amps — the Fender Deluxe Reverb — is highly sought after by collectors around the globe. They were renowned for their precise tone, loud volume, and great looks, and their smaller size makes them ideal for gigging musicians. These amps are rare and difficult to find, and if you do manage to get your hands on one, you can expect to pay tens of thousands of dollars depending on the condition. There are, as always, some caveats — this is a reissue after all — and Fender did not simply go back to the factory and make the same amp with the same components.

The guitarist with an eye and ear for late-'60s Fender silver panel style will love the '68 Custom Twin Reverb, which honors the classic look and great sound of that era's amps.

Deluxe Reverb vs Ac15

October 9, Many have been innovative, some genre-defining while other have been flops wrong for their time or just plain weird. Few pieces of musical equipment can boast such divine status — perhaps the Gibson Les Paul or the Vox AC30, both classic and bulletproof in their influence over half a century of music. Hailed as the ultimate workhorse in guitar amplification, the Fender Deluxe Reverb is widely considered the most recorded amp in the history of music. The combination of these two characteristics meant the Deluxe Reverb was, and still is, a jack of all trades amplifier. Innovative studio artists like The Beatles with a little help from George Martin and Neil Young relied heavily on these techniques to create crude fuzz tones.

Why not go for a Fender Deluxe Reverb instead of a Twin and instead of a Vox AC 30, which is a fine amp, check out a Peavey Classic 30 or 50? If.

Review of the Vox AC30 C2X Blue Bulldog amplifier. Where to buy it?

I need to ditch my back-breaking 4 x 10 Deville, and oddly voxes are cheap around here. But I do favorably remember a buddy's tweed blues deluxe I can't afford most of the amps loved around here, and most are not available anyway or hyper expensive. The AC10 reissue is a perfect amp.

Hi everybody!

Vox ac15 or ac 10 vs fender blues deluxe tweed?

Hey Guys. I've been looking for a new amp for quite a while now and the AC15 and the Twin Reverb or maybe a Super Sonic are the ones that made the cut. At the moment I can get a great deal on a second hand vox AC If I would order a Twin Reverb I'd be paying at least twice as much money since they're pretty expensive and I would need to buy an attenuator and a distortion pedal as well. This means I'm going to end up buying pedals either way. Originally Posted by Koala The Twin is heavy as hell, and you really have to crank it to get break up.

It is then that small valve combos come into your life, and you begin to realise that the relationship between your back and your quest for the perfect tone can continue to be splendidly at peace. The future is here my friends, and it looks like a valve combo. Simply put, it's incredible value for money.
