Following his recent experiences with Wolf von Langa that led to purchasing the SONs, and subsequently acquiring the WvL dealership for the Netherlands, Ron Ploeger of Callas Audio proceeded to try a range of Aries Cerat equipment with his new speakers. The results were so groundbreakingly good that he decided to go all-Aries Cerat. Now, you should know that Ron has many decades of experience and knows good sound, so when he told me this, I took it very seriously. And when he asked if I wanted to do an Aries Cerat review, naturally, I was more than happy to! In the heart of the Incito S preamplifier beats a zero-feedback power gain stage which consists of a small SET amplifier and a transformer-coupled, ultra-high trans-conductance EF super triode.

Aries Cerat Incito S
Founded by owner and designer Stavros Danos in , a new and exciting high end audio brand emerged, in Cyprus no less. Bursting with new ideas and the confidence to throw out the audio designers rule book, Aries Cerat fairly quickly started producing very large, very radical and amazingly high performing audio products.
The first model was the Collatio, a huge single ended OTL power amplifier using 32 x 6c19p tubes on the output. Measuring mm wide X mm deep X mm high and kilos, it certainly got noticed. One of the first out pf the labs was the Collatio OTL power amplifier. Aries Ceat then realised fairly quickly they had to have a SOTA source to test new products in the factory. Again, size and weight restrictions were ignored, rather that means nothing if it gets in the way of the ultimate sonic performance.
Amplification and DAC designs started, Stavros returned to a life long passion of his own, to design the ultimate horn speaker. Many thousands of hours were already spent on this project, and finally it culminated in the Contendo, and later the Symphonia, a 3 way design, with ribbon tweeter, compression driver midrange, and tractrix flare bass horn unit.
This single chassis speaker stands cm high and is fairly compact as far as horn speakers are concerned. Weighing in at kilos and db efficiency, the dynamic and realism of the Symphonia is something to behold, a superb integration of drivers and topologies unheard of before from in-production horn speakers.
Fast forward to , Aries Cerat has a full compliment of preamplifiers including the Incito S and Impera models, power amplifiers and phono stages using the best tube topologies.
A two model range of circlotron tube input Moss-Fet output monoblock power amplifiers, 5 DAC models all R2R and using tubes on the output , the huge Contendo horn speaker system, and the Symphonia horn speaker. In contrary to the bigger Geminae model, the Essentia is using the TriodeFet active element in a very different topology, as this is a Single Ended design. Incredibly there is no driver stage and no input stage! This extremely simple topology we feel is a breakthrough in amplifier design, is an elusive design goal for many, including our lab.

Along with our Newest Prestige line power amps ,came the need for a high performance preamp to suit the quality of our new tube amplifiers,while keeping the cost and size to manageable levels. Our newest preamplifier was developed for some years now, but never had the chance to be consumer ready. Finally, the Incito preamplifier is launched. Simple circuits always work and most important, sound much better. However, simple solutions come with many shortcomings. Especially in audio ,this comes in the form of questionable measuring performance. This is not the case with the Incito preamplifier. The heart of the Incito preamplifier is a zero feedback power gain stage, which is consisted of a transformer-coupled super-triode, using the ultra high trans-conductance EF which was only made by Siemens.

The Pondera Reference Preamplifier is our design effort, to push the envelope of tube audio pre-amplification. This extravagant machine was conceived after many tests with numerous designs, technologies and materials. The heart of the preamplifier, lies in our latest achievement, called N. The power gain is maintained by a single ended-transformer coupled tube stage, using one DHP thoriated tungsten tube. This energy supply has a negative internal resistance throughout the audible spectrum, without the use of feedback or feedforward techniques, so no sonic artifacts are present.
