Amp Shuts Off at High Volume. Thread starter z-ham Start date Aug 30, JavaScript is disabled. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. Aug 30, 8 0 galveston, indiana. My amp will play just fine at normal volumes, but when I turn it past 25 or more on the head unit it will play maybe for a bit depending on the bass on the song.
If my bass hits hard then it will go into protect mode. I have checked everything to see if i have it wired right, and everything is a go. I've been on multiple sites and checked everything that is usually wrong with wiring.
I have trouble shot it for a while and can"t seem to figure out what is wrong with my setup. I checked the rca's one at a time, and I took a grinder to the chassis and installed my ground with a 14 mm bolt. My gain is set to the head unit which is 2v. All the settings are set to the specs of my subs. I did one wire at a time too when trouble shooting.
Checked if any wire was loose and they all appear pretty snug. All the diagnostics passed, but when the volume is up it still shut the amp off. Someone please HELP!!!

I think you will note that as you get to higher volumes, you are overdriving the output of the amp. I'm not sure how you have the subs hooked up and I do have some questions like are the subs wired in parallel? What is the ohm rating on the subs? I had the capacitor on there because I was running some MTX 's and my lights were dimming so I put that on there.
Ive bought different things over time so I just keep the stuff I already have in the car. The volt gauge on the cap reads around Rid yourself of the cap, get a 2nd battery for the trunk. Jan 12, 0 Luling, LA. J31Rob Galveston is right outside Kokomo off of Idk if the big 3 is going to make a difference in my case but when i get the money I'll prolly upgrade to 0 gauge. I'll get a volt meter and check my ratings on it. My subs are 4 ohms. I believe I have the subs wired in parallel.
Alpine4life89 CarAudio. Mar 23, 1, 9 missouri. You can't run that setup on a stock alt. I guarantee if you play it at the max volume and read the voltage of the amp with a DMM it will be dipping into the 10's.
I have the same amp and it goes straight to protect if it is in the 10's for more than a few seconds. Hell I could meet you sumtime whenever if you want J31Rob. Also i just wired all the wires back up and it doesn't drop to the low 12's anymore but the amp shut off at DanChristman Junior Member. Jan 30, 2 0 Vermont.
Apr 25, 11, The D. Why would you suggest that? A second battery for your trunk is only good for Playing the stereo with your car off. It actually would make the voltage drop worse. It would require the alternator to work harder and have to pump out juice to two sources instead of one. Mar 11, 2, 2 Valdosta, GA.
