Comically Speaking
As some of you may know, I am an avid collector of classic video game consoles. Well today I confirmed a partnership with one of our local Comic shops here in MA, Comically Speaking, to start selling some of my stuff out of their location.
This has been something that I have wanted to do for a long time now. My basement is overflowing with old systems, games and promo materials and now I have an avenue to share this hobby with others.
We are starting small just one display case for now but hope to expand to include more systems and games very soon. Here is a pic of the current set-up. I have never sold anything here but every weekend I am home from school I take the time to go to Comically Speaking. I bring all of my loose change and walk out with over 50 comics. I have not been able to find any other store that has that kind of selection at such a low price. It makes ebay look like a waste of money. I cannot say anything to the complaints about selling comics there but if you want to buy either brand new comics at retail or complete an old collection for a bargain price this is the place to go. Rip off. We sold them some boxed action figures and they gave us store credit in the form of a gift card

We talk a lot about Social Networking on Twitter and Facebook, or even getting out and commenting on other comic sites to get your name out there. Yes, your own town. Any town, regardless of where you live, will help you grow your business. One of the ways you can put your name out there is by participating in Free Comic Book Day held on the first Saturday in May each year. Go to your local comic store and ask if you can be a part of the day. I will have book markers promoting my comic that I will give away free. So, go to your local comic book store and get ready for May 7th. Then do sketches and commissions and talk up your comic. After that, do a press release on how the day went.

I was wondering who the next person would be to take advantage of the distribution system that Our Love Is Real pioneered, select high profile retailers across the USA known for selling indie books targeted along with a clever marketing campaign and stepping out of the Diamond three month order system. ComixTribe made a start with Red Ten, but seem to have stepped up with a new title distributed in this fashion. Out next week is the first issue of Scam, a new comic by Joe Mulvey. And it's already sold out of its print run to select stores across the USA, with 40 copies reserved for its online store. Pitched as Oceans 11 meets X-Men with super villains teaming for one last casino job in Vegas, it's also out before Mark Millar and Leinil Yu's similarly conceived Supercrooks. It will also be available digitally from Graphic. A five issue series from creator owned publisher ComixTribe behind The Red Ten and The Standard, stores have received store branded or exclusive variants depending on how many they ordered.
New to the area, and this was the first comic book store I checked out, on a whim coming back from a nearby craft store. I cannot recommend this place enough. Their selection is HUGE, and the owner has an equally huge heart.
But I decided to take a trip with a friend to a few local spots to see if I could take a trip down memory lane. Saw some amazing things and picked up a few goodies along the way. They have an incredible arraignment of classic and new action figures along with a huge selection of back issue comic books Comics everywhere.

Great local Comic Book shop. Courteous and helpful staff. A pretty incredible collection of comic books, toys and related collectibles. A must for comic fans.
