Fender bassman 1965
Discussion in ' Ampage Area ' started by supersport , Aug 4, Log in or Sign up. Gretsch-Talk Forum. Very good condition and works fine. I like do Setzer's tone and would like to get there but mostly play alone and without a master volume, have to crank it too loud to get the sound I like.

This item has been sold. Do you want to sell your vintage or used guitar, bass, or amplifier? A rare and interesting Transitional "Tuxedo" Bassman 6g6-B in exceptional cosmetic condition. Aside from one small hole drilled in the back of the chassis and a few minor tolex scuffs, this amp is all original and very clean. Like a lot of transitional Fender amps, this one has some dating anomolies. The chassis dates to mid to late The tube chart and speakers date the amp to the 2nd half of Our feeling is that the completed chassis sat on a shelf at Fender for a year or so until it was eventually mated with a cab and sold after CBS took over and started cleaning house.
The 6G6-B circuit is highly sought-after, not only for its associations with Brian Setzer, but for its unique, crunchy overdrive tone that bridges the gap between the stereotypical "American" and "British" tones. In breakup the amp has plenty of low-mid chunk, while still maintaing the individual note clarity that defines the Fender sound.
This rare amp will make a great purchase for any serious player, studio or amp collector. It has been cleaned and serviced. It is fully functional and sounds absolutely fantastic. Fender guitars are iconic and for many musicians at Cream City Music, a Fender was the first guitar they ever owned.

Yea, yea, I know even though that amp never "officially" existed, it obviously was made by Fender and so, it sorta does exist. Ladies and Gents, I present to you the blackface Fender Bassman combo, most definitely the best sounding combo that never existed! Then read on, baby, read on It is widely recognized that the blackface Bassman amps were never really that great of a bass amp, but man do they make for a splendid guitar amp just as is the case with the tweed Bassman. When I bought my Bassman, it was totally stock, and yes, it was in its original head-only configuration.

These before and after photos show the rough condition that our columnist's '65 Super Reverb arrived in, and the worn-but-dignified look of his restoration. Of course, a shiny red ES with a Bigsby pretties things up, too. When I was a teenager, in the late '80s, I had a watt Fender Sidekick and a bigger, 2x12, watt Marshall Valvestate. King, and Freddie King. So I got in touch with a local guitar shop called Tre45, and they helped me find a Super Reverb in the U. The amp looked real rough and had large cuts in the aged brownish grille cloth.

By Azaril , April 26, in Amps. I recently acquired a original bassman, which only runs off 4ohms. Trouble is my one and only cab is for my Marshall JCM , which only has a 8ohm input 2 16ohm speakers. My main question is: Is it safe? The bassmans a thing of history, and I love the tone I get out of it and I don't really wanna put any unecessary pressure. I was told by my local amp tech who did a check up on the amp, that it would be fine to put it through a 8ohm cab and would not put any pressure on the transformers at all, and in fact it would put less pressure where putting a 8ohm head into a 4ohm cab would put alot of pressure, or as he said. On the same side, I recently spent alot on guitar stuff, and it will be difficult to buy a 4ohm cab for now, but I would consider it if I was seriously putting the bassman under stress.
