Bbc speakers 03

The British government has released a report suggesting it may need to regulate Amazon, Google, and Apple to protect the domestic radio industry from the American smart speakers and voice assistants. The new Digital Radio and Audio Review found that the devices and audio services provided by the three tech giants are rapidly becoming the center of gravity for British audio content consumption, raising fears that the British companies might lose control over how audio is created and distributed in the United Kingdom. Smart speakers have become incredibly popular in the half-decade since they were introduced in Britain, despite reported issues with the voice assistants not understanding regional accents. The issue is that the British broadcasters have no say in what Amazon or Google do once they support a show on the smart speakers.

Hey folks,. Thank you for reporting this issue to us. We just wanted to let you know that the right folks are looking into this. We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app up to date to ensure you're on the latest version.

Thanks again! We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and information with us. We'll make sure to pass it on to the right team. We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app up-to-date to ensure you're on the latest version. They play on my phone, but the list of available devices to play on just greys out preventing selection.

On several occasions a Spotify representative has stated it is a known issue. I have the exact same issue. BBC podcasts will play directly from my phone app, but I cannot select a device to connect to. This is very frustrating and seems like something that should be easily solvable after such a long time period of this being known.

Let us know if this issue persists once you've performed a clean reinstall on the affected device. We recommend this step since it'll get you the latest app version with all necessary updates and remove any corrupted files from previous installations. It's also a good idea to check if you observe the same under a different network. If it works with another connection, it's best to contact the service provider of the original network for more information.

Good job on checking first whether or not a reinstall solves the issue, in most such cases it does. However, could give it another go with these steps and run a clean reinstall? These ones are more thorough. That way you can make sure the cache is not causing this issue.

Did you also have the opportunity to try it out with a different network, as Ivan suggested? Maybe a mobile hotspot would be a convenient way to run a quick test. This way we can rule out network restrictions as a possible cause for this behavior. No problems at all with music or non-BBC podcasts. I have followed the recommendations to clear the cache and storage do a full re-installation of the App.

I have a Pixel 3a XL running Android What is interesting is that on first using the re-installed app it seems unable to discover Sonos speakers if the first thing I play is a BBC podcast, as soon as I play something else they are discovered but I still cannot play BC podcasts on them.

There is something in the app that blocks BBC podcast playing on Sonos. I am a Spotify Premium subscriber and was thinking of cancelling Stitcher Premium as all my favorite podcasts are available on Spotify, and the integration with Sonos via the app is better, but this is a show stopper. If the issue persists, it's a good idea to try on another device. That way we can check if it's a device-related issue. Are there any changes? Sonos speakers are greyed in the device list for BBC content.

In contrast try playing any non-BBC podcast via the Spotify app and the integration with Sonos works perfectly. Status: Not Right Now 21 Likes. Back to Idea Exchange Previous Next. BBC podcasts will not play on Sonos speakers through Spotify connect. Other podcasts and music is working fine. When BBC podcasts are playing, spotify connect speakers are greyed out with the message 'can't play this right now'. All music and podcasts play fine on phone and streaming to speakers except BBC podcasts.

I reached out to BBC Sounds and they say it has nothing to do with them Spotify Legend. Hey there folks, Thanks for searching for the answer you need here! Let us know how you get on! We'll be here in case you need any further help with this. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still same situation for bbc podcasts.

By Radioham , July 21, in 2 Channel. I can see why the BBC chose them for the accuracy of the mix ,however there is a lack of Bass, and Treble seems to lack some detail. If you have a small room and dont want bass to be an issue then I am sure they are ok. The overall sound stage was well defined, possibly a little held back and not in your face like some modern speakers. It was primarily designed to be a portable nearfield monitor, for which purpose I use it exclusively in the form of Harbeth P3ESR.

Engineers show us the key components in a loudspeaker and explain how they work. A speaker consists of a number of constituent parts including the drive units, the crossover circuit, the cabinet, the tweeter, the mid-range and the woofer. The crossover filter feeds different frequencies to the appropriate drive unit. In each drive unit the signal makes a coil vibrate in a magnetic field, which moves a cone to produce a sound. The cabinet is an essential component in producing the final sound. We see how the speakers are tested before being despatched.

To the younger hi-fi enthusiast, of whom there are undoubtedly some among our ranks, it might come as a surprise to learn the BBC once designed its own speakers. The same licence fee that's now used to fund new series of Mrs Brown's Boys was once invested in what Rogers Hi-Fi's Andy Whittle calls Britain's "world-breaking commitment to audio".
