Thank you by advance. Member Posts: We run one pair of Omega 6" alnicos with a manley stingray and one pair of 6" Omega alnicos with a dynakit st by Bob Latino. Both sound great and can be purchased at the budget mentioned. A new Dynakit and pre-amp or a used stingray can be had at audiogon for roughly that amount. Both put out the same power, 22 and 44 watts depending on the setting. The stingray uses 8 e84l's and the Dynakit 4 el's.

I don't think that you have to worry about trying to warm them up by using amps of certain pedigrees, unless of course you want to.
I have had success with an Art Audio Carissa and a Yamaha receiver. Two very different amps at two extremely different price points, and each worked well with the Omegas.

User Name Remember Me? I've read that some audiophiles feel the EL tube--for push-pull tube amps--is the "King of Audio Tubes. Several audio articles support this view. Carver says, he gets great sound from the EL and really does not know why, although one reason was a simpler circuit topology which did not necessarily need a driver stage.

It is take your pick either an integrated amplifier for high efficiency Klipsch, Tekton, Devore, Decware speakers, or a superb preamp as I'm using it , or as a headphone amp my other intended use. LTA gear is tube driven, designed by David Berning. Plenty of professional reviews to back that up. As to your original question, the best electronics are those that mate the best with your choice of speakers. SS gear tends to do best with speakers having multiple drivers with complex crossover designs, or are of lower efficiency. I use electrostatic speakers with all tube electronics from LTA. I'm in heaven, but I used to have systems that sounded best with SS. You need to pick your speaker first, IMO. LOG IN. Why tube?

If you cannot source a 3k primary and your speakers nominal impedance is below 8 ohms, choose 3. Don't forget the OPT needs to have both 8 and 4 ohms taps to allow for single and parallel operation: 8 ohms taps used for parallel, and 4 ohm taps for single operation.

As a preface I had been using crown xti's with my jubscala and tried to sell my DX but for whatever reason those units are not moving on the bay right now so like the good nuerotic tweaker that I am I started using the dx38 agian and moved the crowns back into power amps, well the dx38 sounds plain better doing the crossover work to my ears, and since the crowns seem to always find a buying I'm now in the market for two new amps on the cheap and cheerful side. I had my heart set on a pair of Virtue audio ONE. Low and behold though emotive drops this little gem. As it stands there is not a bunch of info about it yet, I think it's almsot sure to be some form of Class D chip amp, but some of those have been very highly reviewed.
