I have read that the tweeter was replaced, with a more 'softer' sounding tweeter? Is the woofer still that same? What do you feel is the better of the models? The Yamaha NS is a loudspeaker that became a standard nearfield studio monitor in the music industry among rock and pop recording engineers. Launched in , the NS started life as a bookshelf speaker destined for the domestic environment. It was poorly received but eventually became a valuable tool with which to mix rock recordings. The speaker has a characteristic white-coloured mid—bass drive unit.

I purchased these NSs from the original owner who had put very little hours on them due to the fact these were set up and used for his second smaller home I was going to use them for the very same purpose in my second small home studio. However that studio never fully came to be and they have just been sitting not being used so I'm selling them to someone who will put them to good use. They have always been in a smoke free home. Cosmetically you might be hard pressed to find a nicer pair.

April 23, They exist in just about every professional studio in the world. A mixing desk almost seems naked without a pair of white cones perched above. Even most professional mixers agree that they sound decidedly less-than-hifi, so why then do they continue to use them? Yamaha never intended the NS10 for studio use, rather the opposite. They were originally designed by Akira Nakamura and released as a set of domestic hi-fi bookshelf speakers, and a pretty mediocre one at that.
