Weber speakers blue dog ceramic review

Classic Vox Tone with ceramic punch. Detailed high end that doesn't get hard or harsh at high volumes, aggressive, big low end, more headroom than the AlNiCo version. As with all Weber speakers, the higher the power rating, the warmer and smoother the speaker. The 15 watt is aggressive, bright, with a strong midrange crang. At the other end, the watt is warm, smooth, yet is detailed and clear with very good definition.

Thread starter gnugear Start date Aug 13, Joined Nov 7, Messages Ceramic Weber's, not the alnico.

Just wondering how they sound relative to each other. Dwell New member. Joined Jul 18, Messages 1, The Webers sound great. The Greenbacks sound like, well, Greenbacks. Far from great. Not really apples and apples, unless there are worms involved. Lewguitar Banned.

Joined Mar 31, Messages Blue Dogs Not the alnico P12B? It's a terrific speaker The C12B is closer to a Vintage 30 than a Greenback but the mids are not as open and breathy as a Vintage Also WAY more bass than the Greenback Doesn't crunch like the Greenback tho or really sound like a Celestion. Of the three, I like the Celestion G12H 30 best of all. Joined Oct 4, Messages 1, I used to be a firm believer in the Greenbacks.

I had an early 70's Marshall cab with Celestion Rolla speakers. I thought is sounded great. Then some Forum pals steered my to Jenkins Sound Shop. I have two Jenkins cabs, a 2x12 Highway 61 and a custom 4x Doug at Jenkins breaks the speakers in before loading the cabs. Let me make this clear The Weber Alnico speakers are bit more expensive than the ceramic one's but the tone is stunning. The Weber speakers are a much better speaker. Of course, this is only my opinion.

I've only played a Greenback cab a few times but thought it was really bright and kind of harsh. I was really surprised. I'm just wondering if I'm better off with the Weber's, and if they sound like "better" Greenbacks, if you know what I mean.

Don't see too many used Webers though, so I was considering getting two used Greenbacks. Just not sure if it's a good move. DLX1 New member. Joined Nov 3, Messages Greenbacks pretty much sound good in closed back Marshall cabs only.

But with the right NONmaster Marshall head they add just the right grit and nothing does that sound better. You must log in or register to reply here.

By Johansolo , August 21, in Amps. I'll let you know after this weekend. Last night I installed a ceramic Blue Dog 8ohm, 50w in my 1x12 cab for use with a homebrew Lightning It replaces a Carvin GT Won't know the full story until I get it broken in, but I'll post my initial impressions next week. The trick will be in the high end, whether you like it or not.

Turns out it was swapped for a Cannabis Rex. It sounds alright. Got any opinions for me? I've tried the Weber alnico Blue style speakers - they sounded very different to me. I haven't heard anything which sounds like the Celestion alnicos - I really like the Gold. I wouldn't say the Celestions are the best, but nothing else sounds like them. In some amps they are incredible, and your Vox is probably one of those amps!
