Quick links. Post by devastator » 16 Dec , Sorry to change the subjet on your own topic.

If you want I can make another one to talk about my pp idea. I'm surprised to see so many different tube references.

Post by kleuck » 16 Dec , Ho, don't worry about that, the max current is the bias DC not the max dynamic current. Example from the datasheet : in class A under volts, anode current is 27 mA, so total is 54 mA, under the 60 mA limit.

Power is 3. No more power than a PSE would give or a hair but a different sound, and the use of the items you already own, and available tubes. Best choice imo. I would use a resistor in the high voltage path to filter it and not a choke to make sure the the amp sags and limits the current. That's not my topic, it's a topic about one of my idea Perhaps a dedicated topic would be a good idea, and a general thread about "cheap and dirty amps" with links to all the topics could be great, but we are not on an amp-builders board after all.

A: Yes. Silver solder keeps werewolves away from your amp. Post by devastator » 28 Dec , Hi, I'm still thinking about that project need to find a headshell and a chassis. So I've to decide which one. Post by allesz » 29 Dec , I have no real need of a new amp, but probably you know that feeling inside I really would like to make a two ecl82 version just to have more watts and more gain so forget to waste a tride for a phase splitter ; I am twisted between a parallel single anded design or a self split push pull, different sounds, different transformers I got a single ended one right now, so the pse would be the cheaper way.

Self split intrigues me thought. Well, in the end we suold call the twin ecl82 amp the "double kiss", "kisskiss" or "kiss2the revenge" and maybe start a new tread, but I am soo lazy. Self-spilt is not a good option imo, can work only in class A and doesn't sound good dimed it seems. Post by allesz » 29 Dec , kleuck wrote: doesn't sound good dimed it seems. Post by kleuck » 29 Dec , And built from the remaining parts of the first tube amp i ever owned, his amp, from the 60's.

Post by kleuck » 01 Apr , Update : added a Fet preamp. Post by loylo » 02 Apr , Hey Kleuck, nice to see you online, since you have disappear from french boards! For the Fet, well i do not have any LND or HV Mos and i won't use high voltage components whitout a proper PCB or board, can't do a cheap and dirty thing on hand, and the amp doesn't need a lot more gain, so a low voltage fet is perfect -the source can b bypassed with a cap for even more gain, but i think it is too much, lows became a little farty at full tilt.

Plus, taking the supply from the cathode of the pentode is a fun idea i wanted to give a try BTW a mistake on the schematic : i did not measure the plate voltage of the triode this time, but it should be higher than 80 volts i think. Post by kleuck » 02 Apr , After all, some modifications. Post by kleuck » 03 Apr , Update : the pre was still exhibiting some slight crunch, too much voltage drop actually, so back to a 10K load.

Post by allesz » 04 Apr , Hey kleuck. First, and off topic, my best wishes for any personal problem you may have Then, getting back on the topic, what do you think about increasing the K triode plate resistor?

I found some online triode calculator using a 12at7 triode section and it seems that a K would increase the gain of the section. I did not tried it yet my wife finds the little kiss too loud the way it is ; and since I did not put a grid resistor in front of the pentode I fear it will lead to troubles oscillation maybe?

Maybe it could be a nice way to have some crunch without going solid state. Or you could put in front of the amp a ballast trouble booster instead of the fet Post by kleuck » 04 Apr , Thanks to you man. I did the same when i was young ; know my mind is exactly the opposite : "What can i remove from this circuit? Post by allesz » 05 Apr , Only 2db of gain? Well, in this case I agree it is not worth the effort.

I thought actually I read it in some forum that the ecl82 triode was similar to the 12at It's my fault obviously, ignorance and lazyness are serious diseases if they come toghether, at least I shoul have compared the datasheets. You MUST use a true LM though, it's part of the reduction in bandpass as the gain is turned up, that's the ticket to the versatility with only two pots.

I use two Schottky diodes and one , but it's not even necessary : 2 1N is just fine. Post by kleuck » 05 Apr , The new pre :. Post by kleuck » 05 Apr , Used 1M resistors in, place of 1 Kohms Actual voltages today.

User Name Remember Me? Mullard ECL82 stereo - where has the voltage gone? I've just finished rebuilding my Mullard 7W stereo amplifier, following the Mullard circuit and layout closely. There are two deviations arising from the fact that the transformers are from a Dynatron stereo radiogram which was working before I removed them.

The circuit I used is a mix of some diagrams found on the web and a lot of of the two ECL82 in series the supply was set at 12 Volts.

Need some help with a single tube amp.

I also intend to assemble it. Hello, no I didn't change the design, I have never tested it, I have no speakers to test it on. I was going to buy some fostex single driver but just haven't had the time. Thanks Bruce. Sorry for the very late reply, any single ended audio transformer 5k to 8ohms should do the trick.

Here's the base schematic for the Class-A ECL82 amplifier sections, A DC barrel jack takes care of the power, accepting v. Controls.

This is a list of vacuum tubes or thermionic valves , and low-pressure gas-filled tubes , or discharge tubes. Before the advent of semiconductor devices, thousands of tube types were used in consumer electronics. Many industrial, military or otherwise professional tubes were also produced. Only a few types are still used today, mainly in high-power, high-frequency applications. Receiving tubes have heaters or filaments intended for direct battery operation, parallel operation off a dedicated winding on a supply transformer, or series string operation on transformer-less sets.
