By StrangeC , November 17, in Amps. Selling a beloved Gries Thirty Five combo. Mint condition- seriously its like new. It has a Weber 12F speaker and comes with a nice cover. Dave Gries is no longer making amps for the time being so this is a bit of a rare piece. Gries Amplifiers pronounced "Grice" are based on the classic "blackface" circuits of ''67 ie the Deluxe Reverb, Vibroverb, Vibrolux, Pro, Super, etc All amps feature modern circuit enhancements and improved construction methods and components.
The Thirty Five and Twenty feature master volume controls, increased preamp gain, midrange controls, selectable speaker impedance output, convenient bias test jacks, and upgraded transformers and speakers. They get that unmistakable clean to moderately overdriven tone without the reliability problems associated with using a forty-year old amp.

I'm thinking of getting a second amp, specifically a Deluxe Reverb blackface type to compliment my Twinolux. Just wondering where I might look to find a good hand wired clone, if such an animal even exists. Also, would seriously think about getting a real one if the price was right and I could find one in seriously great shape I recently bought new a Headstrong Lil' King, which is a blackface Princeton Reverb amp with a 12" speaker. It is almost as loud as my silver-face Deluxe Reverb. It has amazing tone and Wayne at Headstrong was very easy to work with.
