Phono Groove , Dec 5, Location: Analogue Dr. Calgary, AB, Canada. As a former owner of Totem Mites and Totem Sttafs, and having heard the Rainmakers on numerous occasions, I can tell you that Totem is one of the most underrated speaker brands out there.
They absolutely excel at imaging, off-axis dispersion and have midrange to die for. The cabinet finish is second to none and they also have a huge WAF due to their rather smallish stature. Their bass will surprise you and I've read they actually go quite a bit lower than their rated specs.
They are sightly rolled off on top, but the midrange is sublime. It really is. Johnny Vinyl , Dec 5, Location: Lexington, NC. Someone that knows Totem a little better may be able to comment, but I'm not sure I would classify the typical Totem sound as smooth Rainmakers included?
And this is by no means an insult. I actually like Totem quite a bit even though I do not sell them. I had a pair of Staff's at the house for a few years and really, really enjoyed them. GoldprintAudio , Dec 5, To better state what I just typed, I sort of consider Totem to be a little forward and detailed. Olias of Sunhill , Dec 5, Location: Wasaga Beach, Ontario.
I have 5 matching Totem Mites and I am very pleased with them. I have not heard the Rainmakers. I agree with all of John's comments above. Location: silver spring md usa. I owned the Rainmakers. They are good speakers.
For me they were'nt keepers. They do have a lot of bass for their size- actually too much for my room I thought. I didnt like their timbre on certain instruments primarily horns and acoustic piano and female vocals. They didnt have enough of an integrated presentation for me, nor were they musically "all rounders". They did some music really well, and other genres not as well. They excel with rock and harder pop music- if rock is what you mainly listen to they definitely offer some excitement and balls and well worth an audition, I've never experienced bass like that from a cabinet of that size.
In certain areas, they may be hard to beat in that price range. Location: Simcoe County. It wasn't easy, as the Rainmakers have a amazing imaging, but t needed a more well rounded, 'warmer' speaker. I could never crank them. I did keep my Dreamcatchers. Location: Oshawa Ont. I think rainmakers are a quality speaker Quality drivers I don't own them personally, I have listened to them though.

Totem Rainmaker Bookshelf Speakers in Mahagony - BIG Sound
HiFi — is our life. Recently, I had the opportunity to step up one level within a single manufacturer and experience what takes place with a design that is graduated above a smaller model, yet fits nicely between a classic model above it. The Rainmakers arrived a few months back after an exchange of emails with Nico Bruzzese in a wonderfully rich mahogany finish. When I first saw the box with the finish label I was a bit timid, as normally I prefer the redness of mahogany as an accent wood. Instead, I was delighted with how attractive they looked. The second surprise is how solid yet light they feel. Like all Totem speakers, each cabinet is hand crafted taking a couple of hours to build. All pieces are lock-mitered for a solid joint, and internally, they are vertically braced. As with all Totem speakers, the inside is veneered, in following designer Vince Bruzzese belief that consistency is crucial to proper performance.

Canadian brand Totem is best known for making speakers that fall firmly into the 'small but perfectly formed' category, and that description is entirely appropriate for this pretty little standmount. To call a speaker 'Rainmaker' might seem to be tempting fate, particularly here in Britain at a time when flood warnings have replaced drought orders in weather-related tabloid headlines. But the model sits alongside the Dreamcatcher in the Totem hierarchy, and its name is entirely consistent for a product range that borrows much of its nomenclature from American Indian folklore. Although the practised eye can detect some economies in cabinet-work compared to the classic Model 1 which is smaller and considerably dearer , it would hard to spot the difference without placing the two side by side. The Rainmaker comes in a choice of four real-wood finishes: black ash, cherry, mahogany and maple.

An interesting topic, but you chose it without knowing what you are writing about, it is better to write about the crisis, you are better at it.
