There may not be a free tweed Champ or blackface Super Reverb sitting on ever corner, but there are still deals to be had straight from Leo himself. As is often the case, those low-dollar pieces of past years that got passed over so readily have become items of value to players these days. Somewhere along the line, however, a guitarist was hard up for something to power his six string, and a guitar got plugged into one of these things. The Musicmaster Bass amp is a great way to get good tone from an honest vintage Fender tube amp without needing to take out a bank loan.

The reality is there were a lot of female players. There were also a lot of girls playing Fenders, which seems to be a missing part of 50s guitar history.
Randall chose those names because they were aspirational and empowering — that was his intention — and he came up with the names Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic.
It was always a constant evolution for Leo — he was always moving forward. The initial run had a thicker ash body and a maple neck, and it used the same pickup and pickup cover as the Champ steel.
It also used the same knobs and steel saddles as the Telecaster. The tuners were Klusons with plastic buttons, to try and keep the cost lower. They had an aluminium scratchplate that was painted black.
Both models evolved in tandem. At this point, the body changed from ash to alder and was a little thinner, but the shape and the routing stayed the same until There was also a transparent red, initially made with a mahogany body — much like an SG Junior!
The coolest Mustangs are the lates racing-stripe ones with matching headstocks — the Competition Mustang. They have the same pickups as the Musicmasters, Duo-Sonics and student steels, but with the addition of two sliding switches. There was a red one, a blue one and a yellow one. Fender Musicmaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar , made in Fullerton, California, serial , desert sand finish, alder body, maple neck, original brown tolex hard shell case. This is a nice and fairly early example of Fender's first student guitar: the unassuming but very functional Musicmaster. They were designed to be good enough to get kids hooked on playing electric, but not so flashy as to stop them still lusting after a new Stratocaster down the road! The Musicmaster features a short-scale maple neck and a single pickup in the neck position with volume and tone controls.

Don't know much about guitars. There the Experts in our city for vintage guitars. The guitar does work, very minimal fret wear if any. Nice straight neck. Said it just needed new string, set up and cleaned up a little. When asked if I wanted to have new strings and polished up and such I turned it down. This guitar looks to have been put away a long time ago.
