Vintage Speakers Worth Owning Today?
Altec Lansing model May You have or know where I can find it. Best regards, Tadas. You could look into building your own with new drivers from GPA. They have gone up a lot in price, but you may be able to get all the drivers and xover's from GPA as a package price for under your budget. Then you'd still need to make cabs for them..

You also have shipping and whatever taxes your country extracts to take in to consideration as well. You may be able to get all the drivers and xovers from GPA for about that price in your link above, dunno though? Anyhow you really need to hear from the likes of GM, Pano, etc, so hopefully they will see your thread.

Value of old speakers

Why Altec Lansing is so great?
In a world of consume, many products lose their value rapidly after being brought to the market. A 10 year old car is only worth a fraction of its original price. However, many speakers are not subject to such a fall of value. If treated apropriately, a speaker can work with the same performance for many decades and will only have little wear that can be replaced such as rotten foams. But how much should you pay for an old set of speakers? Like today, speakers in the 50ies to 80ies had been produced for very different audiences to very different prices. Many speakers had been sold in high quantities to low prices, such as a variety of Fisher speakers during the ies. Those speakers have nearly no value anymore and cannot convince in quality or performance. Others, such as the Dynaco A became highly successful, because of an outstanding price-performance ratio. On the other end of the targeted customers, companies such as Acoustic Research or JBL produced speakers of highest quality that arguably outperform any modern speaker system, such as the AR-LST.
An old speaker we have here and wondered what it's worth...
These are in great condition with some minor signs of use on the cabinets. Some corner dings and a few corner laminate separations. The grills are excellent all originals. The 10" woofers were just professionally re-foamed. The high quality surrounds were provided by none other than " Rick Cobb" The voice coils were aligned to a 30hz tone to insure the best possible sound.

Okay, now there's another development. The sound abruptly comes back to normal for short periods of time and then cuts out again. Also, when I try to multitask, such as open another program while music is playing, there is a short pause in the playback until the program completely opens. This issue is driving me crazy and Dell support is absolutely no help. There only suggestion is to restore the system to an earlier date when there wasn't a problem. I actually tried this but the problem still existed so I brought it back to the present configuration.
