AS IS. Fender Musicmaster Bass amp vintage 70's. Fender Musicmaster bass amp. Everything in this amp is original. Including the speaker. It has its share of nicks, dings and stains but nothing that affects its sound or its structural integrity.
I have used it for recording for many years and I love its sound but I need to sell some of my equipment. It's basically a Fender Champ with a bigger speaker. Maybe that's why it sounds better than the Champs of that era. I have used it for recording both bass and guitar. It has a beautiful warm sound at any volume but sounds best to my ear when cranked up to ten on volume and tone. It sounds huge when recorded and people have even asked me if it was a Marshall. It's in pretty much the same condition as when I bought it 10 years ago since I have never gigged with it.
I am sure it will drive a bigger cabinet but I have never done so. Free shipping anywhere in the continental USA.
No returns or refunds. Will be packed safely in double box. This is a Fender Musicmaster Bass amplifier from the very early 70s. When slightly modified. These make great guitar amps. These amps are touch sensitive and have that clarity you only get with a hand wired amp.
This particular amp is completely stock with the exception of one modern"Fender" brand preamp tube. The amplifier is currently working fine but i s defini t e ly overdue for a cap job. Y ou would be very unwise to buy a 40 year old amp like this and play it very much without having it recapped almost right away. Cosmetically the amp is fair.
It is neither excellent nor trashed. This particular amp is the 6aq5 version. The difference between this and 6v6 version is that this one came out earlier. Has 6aq5a power tubes in it instead of 6v6, and has a pine cabinet. The 6v6 version has a more" h i- f i" Cleaner sound But this amp sounds toastier at lower playing volumes. T he 6aq5 is a great guitar amp tube with a great round sound and vintage 6aq5 tubes are readily available on Ebay and are not expensive.
I love these amps and consider them a hidden gem in the Fender line. In addition to this amp I own another 6aq5 and a 6v6 version both of which I have modified for guitar. This means that the amp has a smoother power amp distortion compared to a Champ and also has a compressed singing quality like a Champ. It also means that they do not sound nearly as full and solid in the bottom as Princeton Reverb or a Deluxe Reverb.
These amps will distort a lot when turned all the way up go hear some on Youtube but I think they shine the most at mid volume for getting a semi-clean sound with bite. If you want to play this amp in a band with a loud drummer your gonna have to mic it in order to sound fully present. Though a lot louder than a Champ this amp is slightly less loud than a Princeton Reverb.

The serial number is A on the chassis The original blue label12" speaker is also intact. The serial numbers for the speaker is C and outside sticker P inside speaker stamp Tubes are original. Tone control and volume light jewel is red and works See pic 2 for silverface condition looks like it was wiped down with a rough cloth. This is a Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp. Totally original. Speaker, tubes, caps- everything. This model is the earlier version and runs on 6AQ5A power tubes and a single 12AX7 preamp tube pushed through a single ceramic 12" speaker all mounted in a pine cabinet.
It has two inputs, the first is a standard input and the second is for higher output guitars as it sounds like there's a slight 5db or so pad to it. Power is approximately 12 watts. Very touch responsive at all volumes, and has a nice clean sound. When the tubes are pushed though, that's when the amplifier really shines.

It's the earlier 6AQ5 power tube version. In excellent cosmetic condition considering its age. The original control knobs and the ground pin on the power plug are missing, but aside from that it appears to be all original. There is a crack in the lower back panel, it doesn't have any importance, just wanted to give a full disclosure. The amp is fully functional, and I've never had any issues with noise or shocks from the removed ground plug.

Roomy champ. This was the first version of the MusicMaster Bass amp, by the late seventies they were using particle core boxes- these were still plywood. Tubes are AQ5's and 1- 12AX7, 6AQ5's are very similar in tone to 6V6 which they switched to for the later models probably for cost uniformity through their product lines Features the original blue label alnico speaker, upgraded 3 prong grounded cord for safety.
Casing is fairly clean for it's age with only a few minor marks, grill has a few snags If you like the sound of vintage champs but found they sounded too small and box-y then this is the ideal answer, sounds like a chap with more power and room for the tone. A very nice example of the harder to find early MusicMaster bass amp.

Tolex has a few nicks and small tears and shows some road dirt, some scratching and marks on metal parts, but is in overall fairly good condition. Overall shows some wear but but with the addition of the Weber speaker sounds incredible.

While diminutive Fender amps are often sneered at by amp snobs, this type of tube combo is now seeing a resurgence of popularity by boutique amp builders, seeking the elusive essence of simple but toneful vintage amps, especially for recording and other low volume uses. Other benefits include not taking up huge amounts of real estate and being easy on your spinal column, as well as being useful to have for occasional bass guitar use! Right up front, I am a champion sic! The classic behemoths are great too but there is something really cool about the runts of the family, especially for home use. Like single pickup guitars including the Fender Musicmaster , there is a certain purity to keeping things simple.
