BTW: They are all older than 20 years, so please recap them. Thanks for your additional suggestions. Carsten, I have been looking for Nytech amps on eBay but none have come up. I've missed out on a couple of Arcams recently, and am watching some Cyrus Ones.
All that I have seen online seems to speak favourably of them. Now I just need to get an amp to go with them! With regards to that, I have been looking a bit at chip amps.
They seem pretty cheap, and relatively well-regarded. I know this is a bit off-topic, but does anyone have any thoughts on them? Perhaps I could buy a T-amp and phono stage, instead of buying an older amp with all the hassle that it may bring? Or maybe I should stick to older technology? It's never-ending, this stuff! Is it too late to throw another suggestion into the hat? Funny you should mention that, Alex.
I'm watching a couple of Music Fidelity B1s at the moment. Do you think they are worth bothering with? Or is it the A1s I should be going for? I've no personal experience with the B1, but as I understand it they are boring class ab amps unlike the A1 which is heavily class A biased. Cheers Alex. I have duly struck the B1 off my list. Are there any decent car boots in your area? For a month of sundays worth of looking, you could probably get a couple of amps to play with.
Yes, we do have a pretty big one, but being Brighton I always find it's a little overppriced. Good plan, though. I might try and get myself down there next week. Whatever you do mate, stay away from the arcams with the motorised input control ie the ones where you can select sources with the remote, it's a design fault and will leave you with crackle and intermittent sound. There are work arounds but it's still a piece of go poo poo. I paid for one with a phono stage back in 97 to go into my home radio studio, within a year the switch failed , a year later the gold sleeves on the phonos started to just drop off!!

Also use a Nakamichi CA5E as both a phono stage and second pre amp. My power amp is a Lumley Reference ST As backups I have a non matching Rotel pre and power but not used much.
