Stay tuned! Location: Zagreb, Croatia. Well, as you say, "full range" is a moving target, and very subjective. Gurus are meant to go right up against the wall, rather than well out in the room like most mini monitors where Gurus would sound decidedly lean, I'm guessing.

The idea they need to be spaced from the wall is a fallacy. Unless you have a large room and can get them a couple of meters out.

I don't think early reflections, under say 20ms will be too much of a problem from the front wall. All energy back there will be sub hz or so, and early reflections that low are extremely difficult to dampen.

Certainly any treatment you can fit behind a speaker that close to the wall will be doing zero for early reflections at that low of a frequency. If your rear wall is close and untreated, maybe these reflections can be helped by thin panels behind your speakers. How are you going to dampen frequencies at hz'ish with such a small gap behind the speaker to the wall though? It's going to require panels around 4 inch thick minimum I would think Hmm ok then.

What is your rear wall set up and how far behind you is it? That's my suspicion along with room size as to popularity of such loudspeakers in the UK for example. Location: Eagle, Idaho. There is an American made economy version of the guru called the 'clue'. Google 'clue loudspeaker' to read about it, they're quite good and a bargain at the price.
