Speaker dust cap fixing
By wholte , May 22, in General Klipsch Info. Can someone tell me if the 12" woofer which has a 1" tear in the center dust cap can be repaired by a professional. I just wasn't sure if this was a serviceable part. It can be repaired by you if you're interested.

However, there is a small risk of damaging the voice coil if someone pushes in the cone fairly hard, especially off center. This can rub the voice coil against the magnetic gap. My understanding has always been don't make a speaker cone to move off center by pushing on one side, and in the case of using a vacuum, pulling off center only because it can slightly damage the voice coil as the magnetic housing is a very close fit.
Good find, but sometimes you have to take risks like this, in my opinion. However, if you notice, the Barefoot guy refers to the "pushing in", and not the pushing out. Only an engineer that builds speakers could tell the truth in this case, I guess. However, other people over the internet that have tried the vacuum cleaner thing are fairly satisfied with the outcome.
Wish I had some professional, fast, cheap alternative to that, but I'm satisfied, all good to my ears. Thank you for the input, I think people should know what to do when such accidents take place with our monitors, and read a little before figuring out how to.
