Researchers from a wide variety of disciplines conduct applied research and development in the field of non-destructive monitoring along the product life cycle, from raw materials to production and recycling. The basis of the research work is the development of cognitive sensor systems for data acquisition using X-ray and magnetic resonance technologies as well as optical Inspection techniques. Modern cognitive sensor systems generate an extensive amount of data from which information can be extracted in a targeted manner using intelligent software-based methods.

These are then linked with further meta data in order to integrate the collected sensor data and their evaluation into an application-specific context. The knowledge generated and processed this way enables our customers to make well-founded, data-based decisions quickly. With our solutions, we are approaching the challenges of the present and especially of the future, e.

Deggendorf – How to find us

A team of chemists at The Scripps Research Institute TSRI , La Jolla, CA, say that they have invented a new method to join complex organic molecules that is extraordinarily robust and can be used to make plastics, pharmaceuticals, fabrics, dyes, and other materials previously inaccessible to chemists. An interdisciplinary team of engineers at Princeton University has embedded tiny light-emitting diodes LEDs into a standard contact lens, allowing the device to project beams of colored light. While the lens is not designed for actual use, especially since it requires an external power Most plastics are made from fossil fuel sources or from synthetic oils. Thermoplastics can melt, be formed, and then solidify without degrading materials One of the more common purposes of an ultrasonic flow meter is to measure the velocity of a fluid in order to calculate the volumetric flow rate of a medium through a tube. This can be done through the

We thank all of our licensees for their great support in making mp3 the defacto audio codec in the world, during the past two decades. The development of mp3 started in the late 80s at Fraunhofer IIS, based on previous development results at the University Erlangen-Nuremberg. Although there are more efficient audio codecs with advanced features available today, mp3 is still very popular amongst consumers. Those technologies, that have been developed with major contributions from Fraunhofer IIS, can deliver more features and a higher audio quality at much lower bitrates compared to mp3. Further details about the termination of the mp3 licensing program by Technicolor and Fraunhofer are available here.

The development of complex products is hardly imaginable without modern 3D tools. Knowledge of the geometrical characteristics and the interaction of internal and external structures enables decisive optimizations of the product in the development process and beyond. Whether for simulation calculations for a crash test or to ensure product quality or for detailed material analysis — 3D measurement data closes the gap between theory and practice! What was previously only possible for limited object sizes with a diameter below one meter can now also be realized for large objects such as, for example, assembled vehicles, sea- freight containers or aircraft parts.

While standard processes repeatedly reach their limits, these intelligent algorithms help system manufacturers and users to significantly improve the results of three-dimensional imaging and enable the high-precision dimensional measurement for many applications for the first time.

The IoT-Bus forms a cross-media communication protocol and unites the two worlds of WPAN and fieldbuses without complex protocol conversion. In the context of the increasing cross-linking and digitization in the fields of Industry 4. The Internet of Things IoT has specific requirements on data rate, range, reliability, cost, flexibility, interoperability and in certain cases also data security. Consistency of the protocols and seamless data-flow across different domains is essential to enable the IoT. Internet connectivity holds security risks in manners of data manipulation and cyber-attacks.

High energy CT or XXL-CT

Large and stationary computed tomography systems are mostly used in X-ray technology. Due to the lack of mobility, measurements are only possible at the respective system location and sometimes complex sample environments have to be integrated there. Thanks to the low weight and compact size, the systems can be used for measurements at changing or previously unimaginable locations. The CTportable The low-energy range of the measurements, which is sufficient for this purpose, allows a more cost-effective construction of the device compared to larger systems, which also consumes less energy and financial resources.

Exhibitors The main objectives of the project ACXIS are to develop a manufacturer independent reference data base for X-ray images of illegal and legitimate cargo, procedures and algorithms to uniform X-ray images of different cargo scanners and measurement parameters, and an automated identification of potentially illegal cargo.

But to its many enduring attractions, the composites professional adds each spring two industry events that — like their host city — are sources of enlightenment that have endured the test of time. JEC Show organizers expect participants this year from as many as 96 countries, and predict that up to 75 percent of exhibitors will come from outside France. A preliminary list of JEC exhibitors is posted in the sidebar at the bottom of this page.
