For such a small speaker these are fantastic. Dali makes great sounding speakers. As any bookshelf, yes you need a sub if you want the deepness of a tower. As far as the rest, they have great articulation, a wide soundstage, superior midrange. They weren't the best rated speaker in their catagory for years for nothing. I still like them more than the Warfdale diamonds. I run Magico S3's on my main system but still love listening to these also.
In a 12' x 14' space they hold their own. With a sub you're in for a treat. Love the Zensor 3's but don't need them for my purposes.

These speakers are very compact as you will tell from their specifications, but their sound stage matches those of larger bookshelf speakers. I have owned quite an extensive list of bookshelf speakers over the last 40 years and these are impressive when compared to most of them in terms of the overall tonal balance.
As you might expect knowing they were designed in Denmark, they compare to Dynaudio in terms of sound quality - which are on the top of my list for truth in sound reproduction.
I know that hearing is subjective, and very much a personal taste, but I am confident that most people will find these speakers very pleasing across the frequency spectrum, bearing in mind that below 53Hz you will want support from a Subwoofer; but for smaller rooms, they are fine as-is. Let me j ust add, that these speakers don't need additional Bass or Treble - they are therefore a good option for those Integrated Amplifiers that don't offer tone controls.
