The city centre branch announced that they would be leaving Sidwell Street by putting signs up in their windows. Colleagues at the shop are aware of this decision and we're working with them to transfer them to other local shops when Exeter City Centre closes. This week Tesco announce also revealed plans to build a large store on land next to its Tesco Vale Extra Superstore. They have submitted plans for a 1, square metre building with 46 parking spaces on land inside the existing, huge overflow car park off Russell Way.
The reopenings follow successful trials at its Peterborough and Bristol Cribbs Causeway stores and will be the first time that customers have been allowed instore since the lockdown was put in place in the UK. This means that customers have been unable to browse and instead have been placing orders with Halfords colleagues outside the front of the store. There has been a big surge in demand for our bike products and services as people have taken to cycling during the lockdown, both for commuting and for fun. We are also anticipating a similar level of demand for our motoring products and services in the coming days, as people begin to use vehicles again that in some cases will have been off the road for many weeks. The launch of our new Retail Lite model will assist us in meeting this increased demand, which in turn will allow us to continue helping to keep the UK moving.
Halfords Autocentres has launched a car collection and delivery service. Running from of its garages across the UK, the service is available alongside service or MOT with a service bookings. The service means staff at the Autocentre will collect the car from your home and return it when work has been completed. Customers must book the service over the phone and ensure their vehicle is parked in a suitable location. They will also need to hand over their keys while observing the latest social distancing measures. All technicians will wear a new pair of disposable gloves and sanitiser for each job.
Halfords is to fully reopen 53 stores after a successful trial of physical-distancing measures on its shop floors. The bike and car parts retailer said the reopenings follow successful tests at its Peterborough and Bristol Cribbs Causeway stores. It will be the first time Halfords customers will be allowed in store since the UK lockdown started on 23 March. A number of the stores opened over the bank holiday weekend and all 53 will be open by Friday.
