The overwhelming response: technology for students' online learning, internet access for families, basic supplies for families and schools, face masks for school volunteers, food for student families. We connected concerned businesses with helpful resources to give, to schools needing those resources. Within 60 days more than laptops were distributed to students in need, families were connected to the internet, hundreds of pounds of food was served to families, and dozens of facemasks delivered to school volunteers. Teachers were given furniture to set up home offices. According to the U. N, human trafficking is the inhumane act of threatening, forcing, or deceiving vulnerable persons to exploit them for slavery or similar practices. It affects every country and is reported in all 50 states. Nonprofit organizations work tirelessly to end trafficking but rely heavily on the generosity of donors like you. Simply said, victims are in desperate need of resources.

Composers Now empowers all living composers, celebrates the diversity of their voices and honors the significance of their artistic contributions to the cultural fabric of society. Composers Now features a broad spectrum of performances in concert halls, jazz mobiles, opera stages, experimental spaces, conservatories, museums and other musical venues. Seventy-seven percent of our revenue comes from contributions. Donations are used to produce our concerts and events, create new works, and train the next generation of musicians. I first met Elliott Carter in , when he was thinking of establishing a foundation that would support the performance of contemporary concert music, particularly that of American composers. With the sale, he would be able to fund his foundation and give back to a musical community that had supported him and that was, and still is, desperately in need of money. Elliott was for me, at that time, a towering musical figure whose music had both challenged and engaged me for many years.
