The progrramming software is proprietary of course. Save your money and do this project yourself right in your garage or on your patio right on the kickstand. No fancy motorcycle lifts, jacks or tools needed. The video is very thorough and we show you different options for routing and managing wires. We explain what each component actuallydoes and armed with this knowledge the project is a breeze. As usual, the paper instructions provided by Harley-Davidson with the amp and speaker kit will confuse and frustrate you.

Failing to compensate for the factory equalization curves found in new Harley Boom! Box infotainment systems is a recipe for disaster. Even the best of our Focal speakers will sound horrible using the factory EQ curve. This article will explain the process we use to ensure that the Harley motorcycles we upgrade sound amazing.

Out of the box, the most common Harley radio configuration includes a strange EQ curve with a dip at 5kHz and bumps at 80 and Hz. If we install an amplifier and premium speakers on these bikes, this EQ curve makes the new, high-quality speakers sound terrible. Using our AudioControl SAA audio analyzer, we have documented each of the 13 different factory EQ curves, including their response with the bass and treble boosted and cut all the way.

As you can see from the image, some differ by more than 24dB from top to bottom, and none sounds good once we upgrade your speakers for better performance and more volume capability. As you can see, once we reflash the radio, the frequency response is smooth and natural. Other than at the extreme ends of the audio spectrum, everything is within a 3dB window.

For some of our more complex systems, we can combine one of the preset curves with bass and treble adjustments to create a system that sounds exactly the way the client wants with realistic tonal balance and smooth response. A lot of shops say you can get away with the factory tune. The biggest problem with the tune is the huge 15dB boost at 80Hz. Not only does it sound bad, but this boost, combined with a quality amplifier, can also overwork even the best speakers we offer.

The factory tuning is designed for speakers that have trouble playing below Hz. Unless you want to invest in a dedicated digital signal processing , the Harley-Davidson radio flashing process is mandatory when upgrading these systems. We have invested in dedicated equipment to reconfigure Harley radios. We can change the radio configuration to any of the 13 available options quickly and easily. If you are tired of the bad sound of your Harley stereo, drop by Sweet Sounds in Mankato and speak with a member of our sales team.

For more information, give us a call at or send us an e-mail using our contact page. I bought a different bike that has 4 speakers. How do you tell if it was flashed. Of not, how much does it cost to get flashed? Sorry for the delayed reply. Can I just upgrade speakers on the fairing of my 19 road glide without flashing stereo system..

You will likely be disappointed. I just installed a hogtunes Rev 4 on my Ultra and also did the front and back speakers with the Hogtunes Gen 4 6. Hello, Since I am not familiar with that equipment I would suggest you contact their tech support team for their recommendations.

Of course with these units, we always include the proper flash when installing the equipment on newer bikes.

Thank you. I in stalled a led headlight to see better at night, n now my radio is all static on every channel. There may be some incompatibilities between your lights and radio reception. After having paired up and connected the N-Com system to your motorbike, you will be able to hear all audio signals coming from the Harley in the helmet. The pairing up is saved by both the helmet and the motorbike, and it is not lost upon turning them off. That is, after turning on the Harley Davidson and the N-Com system, the two will connect automatically. The mobile phone is detected after a few seconds. Select it to complete the pairing and the connection. By doing so, the calls will be transmitted to the helmet.

When it comes to upgrading the audio system on Touring-class motorcycles like the Harley-Davidson Road Glide and Street Glide , you can save a lot of money by having Extreme Audio near Richmond perform the installation. Even with bike-specific kits that include wire harnesses, mounting brackets, amplifiers and speakers, knowing how to take the bike apart, where to make electrical connections and how to run cabling safely can play a huge role in determining the reliability of the system.

Stage II systems are based on a bi-amplified, three-way speaker design. Each Stage II speaker features a separate woofer, midrange and tweeter element that allow frequencies to be delivered with the optimum driver design. This doubling of the power allows you to play your music louder with far less distortion than traditional systems. Requires separate purchase of Color-Matched Saddlebag Lids. Not compatible with models equipped with Stage I Boom!
