10a125 weber speakers tone

I thought the whole point of Weber speakers is that they are supposed to be a low cost alternative? What am I missing here? Maybe the current Jensen P10Q isn't vintage accurate? Or maybe Weber just decided to make a speaker that's superior to the P10Q at its own game? Current Jensens aren't really Jensens. They're some Italian company's speakers with the Jensen name on them.

But I like the tone of the P10RT better I like the 30 watt version better than the 20 watt version: smoother highs. I like the two speakers combined. I like to mix ceramic 10's with alnico 10's in some amps to get the best qualities of both.

It'll make a nice improvement. Celestion makes my very favorite 12quot; speakers and those are the ceramic magnet G12H30 and Vintage 30 and the alnico magnet G The Celestion G12H30 has smoother highs and more bass than the brighter sounding Vintage Replacing a generic 12quot; speaker with either will usually make a HUGE improvement in the volume, clarity and overall tone of just about any amp Ted Weber makes my favorite 10quot; speakers.

Ted's version of the '66 Jensen C10N, the Weber 10F does have great bass response, but the highs are not as crisp as those in my original Jensen '66 C10N. I've never liked the orginal 60's Jensen C10Q's I think it's a great value and four of them sound killer in a Bassman Reissue or similar amp.

I find the reissue C10Q from Jensen to be a little to bright for my tastes but it's an excellant value and it'll smooth out after it's played in. I don't have alot of experience with 15's Lew Ah I just wish that you could post some soundbites of each set up for comparison. That's still my best sounding amp. Good speakers for the money. There is a huge thread on The Gear Page covering those Some definite Vaultworthy info!

The nice thing about changing speakers is that you can always sell the original to recoup much of your cost It only seems recent that amp companies have been using mismatched or 'aged' speakers. It gives a much more 3D effect when you've got different speakers reacting to the amp's signal. Has anyone ever tried 4 mismatched speakers? I'd love to load up a with a Vintage 30, Greenback, G12H30, and G, and see how it sounds from a distance, and also be able to choose which speaker to mic for recording or live.

I also have 4 Reverend Alltone 10 ceramics I've been meaning to try out but haven't gotten around to. I think I'll throw 2 ceramics in an X pattern amp; check it out I'll report back for those who might care! I HAVE noticed a big difference in closed back vs. I guess I prefer the open tone, as I mainly use this cab for cleaner tunes with dirty duties going to the 2x Blah blah blah Then, if you want to push your speakers a little harder for earlier break-up and a lower overall volume, you can unplug the fourth speaker and just use three speakers.

It's hard to know how to set your amp. The most I like to hear in one cab is usually two types of speakers.

I think for recording it would be awesome to have a cab with 4 different speakers in it, though. No matter what head you plugged into it, you could probably find a useable tone from one of the speakers. No, but I am using a 3 mismatch set up.

Individually the cabs sound good but one dimensional, plug in the second cab and whoa What cab and speakers would you smart guys recommend for a Peavey head? I'm not sure what exactly the VR is rated for the piece of paper on the inside of the amp is incorrect , what wattage speakers would you recommend? Also, would you recommend mixing speaker types or just sticking with one kind in both positions?

Thanks a lot Lew, I know you know Fenders very well and this is definitely vault-worthy material. I never thought there was so much to take into consideration with speakers for cabs. Once again I've been Lew-Shocked. Vault material indeed. Are they original Jensen C12N's from the 60's? Those are some sweet speakers if they are Those original C12N's are pretty sturdy speakers I'd just enjoy it and be careful with it.

Mine are still in great shape and I've pushed them pretty hard over the years. If you ever need to get your original C12N reconed Ted Weber can do a nice job. Because the cone on the original Jensens is now 40 years old or so it has softened considerably. To retain that vintage tone I had Ted recone mine with a softer cone Sounds excellant and when I compare my old C12N's with the original cones to my C12N that Ted reconed with his quot;Qquot; cone they sound very close. So I think I'd recommend just enjoying your originals and when or if they ever need reconing just have Ted recone them with his C12Q cone.

The Marble Harpmaster is our top of the line Harp amp. It is tuned for true harp power and fat blues tone with no compromise. Later we redesigned our Harpmaster to be dedicated for harmonica or bluesharp amplification only. The circuitry in the different stages of the amp is tuned to the specific frequency characteristics of harp with several classic microphone combinations. Recently we decided to lift our topmodel to an even higher level by redesigning the preamp to improve versatility and handling and adding our Anti Feedback Circuitry to the power-amp. We have modified our input section to be able to accept both bulletmikes as well as low-Z microphones.

Here is my most recent acquisition: A Weber 5F2H Harp Amp. This amp When I got the amp it had a nice old Mojotone MP12R alnico speaker.

Weber Speakers, Whats the deal?

Has anyone used any weber speakers are they ok opinions please. Find More Posts by ArcticBreaze. Wonderful speaker choice for a harp amp. Your speaker is from the next line up so I bet it will sound fantastically smooth and warm, or if you crank it, nice an honky with a nice natural harp tone. Weber speakers are my speakers of choice, and I have been incredibly happy with their products for the money. I think the only thing you could have ordered to get a more "authentic" tone would be an antique rola 10 inch alnico speaker for like 30 bucks off of fleabay, but it still probably wouldnt sound as good as I bet your weber will. Also, reissue tung-sol tubes are excellent.

anyway I just ordered a weber 10a speaker 20watts 8 ohms with the "authentic" tone would be an antique rola 10 inch alnico speaker.

This amp is sold as a kit by Ted Weber, but this example is already professionally built with a few interesting upgrades. The 5F2H is basically a clone of a s Fender Tweed Princeton amp that has been hot-rodded for harp. Instead of 5 watts from a single 6V6 power tube, the 5F2H produces 15 watts from a KT66 tube one of the 6L6 family and a bigger output transformer. It is a single-ended Class A tone monster. This amp differs from the stock Weber kit in several ways. These Copper Caps have all the sag and tone of the tube, but are much quieter and will last the life of the amp.
