EIGHT YEARS IN AMERICA
As a community institution, Mt. Hood Community College seeks to make itself as open and accessible as possible to residents throughout Multnomah, Clackamas and Hood River counties, and beyond. In recent years, MHCC has become a hotbed of activity, providing space for everything from television and commercial shoots to national-level sports competitions and popular community events. The possibilities are nearly endless, added Obotette, pointing out that theatres, classrooms, large spaces, science labs and board-style rooms at the Gresham campus can support workshops, speaking events, conferences, drama productions, open mics, and academic tournaments, to a name a few.
And plenty of smaller rooms, including in the library and student union, offer ideal space for breakout sessions. The college can rent out classroom space at any campus — Maywood Park and Bruning centers included. Computer labs are also available for courses that require online or computer training. The Gresham campus boasts a seat performing arts theatre, a seat visual arts theatre, and the Vista Dining Hall with room for approximately people. On the south end of campus, MHCC offers the Yoshida Event Center, which can house everything from sporting events to fundraising galas; baseball, softball and soccer fields; racquetball and tennis courts; and a 5,seat outdoor stadium with room for additional seating overlooking a football field and meter track.
One campus facility that is already seeing an increase in community usage is the Mt. Hood Community College Aquatic Center. The aquatic center contains a yard, six-lane indoor competitive pool and a meter, Olympic-sized outdoor pool. Inside, additional facilities include a rock wall, instructional and hydrotherapy pools and locker rooms with showers. In addition to offering sports facilities, the school features hiking trails, a creek and pond, and natural landscaping on the acre Gresham campus.
The campus also encompasses some truly unique spaces and facilities for filming, like an indoor planetarium, funeral services center and embalming lab, hair salon, dental hygiene clinic and a fisheries hatchery. With seating for 70, the Sky Theatre offers a truly magical experience in an intimate-sized auditorium that uses the same advanced lighting and display technologies as much larger planetariums, according to Pat Hanrahan, MHCC planetarium director.

How To Watch on Peacock. After eight seasons, 80 episodes, and countless bizarre characters, Portlandia wrapped up its final season earlier this year. Even when Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein were screaming at the top of their lungs — something that happened more often than you would think — there was something oddly comforting about Portlandia. No matter how weird or over-the-top this constantly silly series became, there was a note of optimism buried underneath its jokes. Armisen, Brownstein, and director Jonathan Krisel loved to mock hipsters, progressive thinkers, and Portland, but few sketch shows were as loving as Portlandia. After almost a decade of ripping on it, Portlandia still loved its home city almost as much as the Mayor did. To celebrate this oddly sweet and constantly hilarious addition to the world of comedy, below are some of the best sketches from this new season.

And I think we ended on like an insert shot. Yeah, that sounds less emotional compared to wrapping with fan-favorites like passive-aggressive feminist bookstore owners Toni and Candace. But it was actually a touching moment. All the people we love, all the people we work with were there. So there was this strange discrepancy between what we were filming and then the emotions around it. It was an uneventful scene, in terms of what we were shooting. But it was obviously an eventful moment. So hopefully people will like it. The show kicks off its eighth and final season this week, and since , the show has always found the perfect niche, appealing to the small subsection of music-loving, internet-dwelling, Pacific Northwest hipsters it satirizes. Picking out the show's finest moments is tough since the show's charm is in the zany rhythm of its Portland vignettes and cadre of caricatures.
