Tdfa amplifier circuit

An optical amplifier is a device that amplifies an optical signal directly, without the need to first convert it to an electrical signal. An optical amplifier may be thought of as a laser without an optical cavity , or one in which feedback from the cavity is suppressed. Optical amplifiers are important in optical communication and laser physics. They are used as optical repeaters in the long distance fiberoptic cables which carry much of the world's telecommunication links. There are several different physical mechanisms that can be used to amplify a light signal, which correspond to the major types of optical amplifiers. In doped fiber amplifiers and bulk lasers, stimulated emission in the amplifier's gain medium causes amplification of incoming light.

A new class of compact and lightweight S-band 1 kW traveling-wave tube TWT is being developed for a microwave power module MPM that will be used for phased antenna array radar applications. The stability from unwanted oscillations has been investigated.

To suppress the oscillations, the helix circuit has been coated with carbon composite material. The coaxial input and output antennas have been fabricated. The collector design makes use of a current loop based on a feedback mechanism for effective design process. The integrated designs of a helix circuit, an electron gun, a periodic permanent magnet PPM , antennas, and a collector are presented. Smith, C. Armstrong and J. Katz, R. Gray and R. Barker, J.

Abstract — A comprehensive numerical model based on solving rate equations of a thulium-doped silica-based fiber amplifier is evaluated. The nm pump is used to provide both ground-state and excited state absorptions for amplification in the S-band region. The theoretical result is in agreement with the published experimental result. The additional bandwidth, modularity, inherent higher pumping efficiency, and lower nonlinear signal degradation compared with alternatives such as S-band Raman amplification [6,7] offered by TDFA enables applications such as coarse wavelength-division multiplexing CWDM and fiber to the home FTTH. The input of the system is 16 equalized wavelength multiplexed signals channels in the wavelength region of 80 nm nm nm with 5 nm channels spacing. The power of each channel is dBm. The pumping at nm. The TDF used is a glass based one with thulium density of The absorption and stimulated emission cross sections define the absorption coefficient for pump light and gain coefficient for signal light [9].

Effective date : Year of fee payment : 4. Year of fee payment : 8. Year of fee payment : A discrete hybrid amplifier is disclosed for use in optical fiber systems. The amplifier uses one or more Raman laser pumps together with semiconductor optical amplifiers in series to produce a relatively level gain across the frequency range of interest.

Various performance parameters including Q-factor, bit error rate, jitter, eye opening and eye closure are observed and analyzed.

The gain curve is essentially a superposition of the gain of the TDFA module. A noise figure between 6 and 9 dB is achieved for a band as large as nm. The rise.
