Bipole speakers 4 channel
Many speaker companies include dipole or bipole surround speakers in their systems. What are they? In a conventional surround speaker, the drivers woofer and tweeter are mounted on one board, facing one direction. A dipole or bipole speaker mounts speakers so that the sound emanates from the sides of the speakers. In a bipole speaker, both sides of the speaker push air outward at the exact same time. They are in phase with each other.

Bipole or Dipole speakers for rear? Thread starter TheSeeker Start date Dec 29, TheSeeker Well-Known Member. Hello, i recently got an AVR and have almost finalised on the speakers to go with it. The ambient sounds which is one of the most important functions of surround speakers are much better in Dipole mode for movies. Of course things like room geometry and acoustics will have major role to play in ultimate experience in my honest opinion.

That's why I simply have 4 monopole speakers forming the 4 rear channels of the my 7. They seem to have a more directed effect and works beautifully in an HT setup Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. HFM product-page tells them to be bipolar. If you have an option, you can wall mount it on speaker holders and tilt them to direct towards the seating position.
Also, most of the heavy lifting is done by your fronts and center. Spending too much on rears is just a waste of money. If you have a decent sub, go for cube speakers in the rear and angle them towards you since even the woofer is hardly used by the rear channels.
And definitely don't spend on a separate amp for them. Let the integrated amp run the rears and later buy a dedicated 3 channel amp for the forward speakers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. The Seeker Sounds promising Post reply.

Dipole speaker
Exceeded my expectations they are the perfect surround sound satellites!!! No matter where you are they work!!! Love the fact that they can handle high volume Also nice to see the Canadian quality construction!!! For the price, just over US, these two guys do an extremely great job. Their tone blend nicely with many different front towers and can rock a bit during heavy passages. I bought them due to the four speaker design, wanted to see if that was better than the typical two tweeter, one mid design of almost all all bi rears.

The best placement for your type of speakers determines the sound quality that you receive. If you place your speakers wrongly then you are likely to receive poor quality sound. Proper speaker placement might be confusing at first.

There seems to be some confusion when it comes to dipole vs bipole speakers. First, some background on these two technologies. The strict definition of a dipole speaker is a speaker enclosure in which the speaker radiates or projects sound forward, and the reverse polar response is degrees out of phase. You get the simplest dipole speaker by mounting a driver onto an open baffle. The speaker fires in-phase on the front side of the baffle, and degrees out of phase on the backside of the baffle.
The Best Placement for your type of Speakers
A surround sound speaker system means five, six, or seven speakers plus a subwoofer. In addition to selecting the number of speakers or channels you want for a surround sound system , you need to select the type of surround sound speakers you want. There are three types to choose from, direct-radiating, bipole, and dipole speakers, and each type produces different surround sound effects. Your decision should be based on your room and your listening preferences. A direct-radiating speaker outputs sound directly into the room toward the listeners. Surround sound effects in movies, music, and games are most noticeable with direct speakers. In general, most people prefer direct speakers if they listen mostly to multichannel music. Direct speakers are placed at the sides or rear of the listening room behind the listeners.

Dipole vs Bipole vs Monopole: Which Surround Speaker is Best?
At the request of Meniscus, I designed a matching thin center channel and bipole surround for the Overnight Sensation family. I guess I forgot to mention it to the public. So let's take a look at what we have. Both speakers are available as kits from Meniscus , or you can buy them piecemeal. First, the center channel is meant to be very thin to compliment a modern flat screen home theater setup.
There are three types of such speakers namely; bipolar, dipolar, and direct-radiating monopole speakers with each type producing unique surround sound effects as discussed below. Bipolar speakers can be used as both side and rear surround speakers and each has different sound effects. On the other hand, when they are used as rear speakers sound is only directed along the back wall. In addition, they diffuse the sound in a such way that the location of the speaker cannot be spotted. Most surround speakers are normally positioned at or above the ear level. However, for another set up like a movie setup they can be placed two to three feet above the ear level for maximum output. Bipolar speakers are more flexible compared to dipolar speakers making their installation much easier and they can be installed on the rear or sidewalls.

What are the different types of speaker available for surround systems The speakers in a home cinema system may have multiple sets of speaker drivers that face in different directions positions. This diagram demonstrates the different ways that these loudspeakers radiate sound to the listener.
I appreciate your help in this matter, how can I thank you?
