MQA, Master Quality Authenticated, provides a means to efficiently encode and transmit high resolution audio. MQA is based on the axiom that, in audio, high resolution can be more accurately defined in the analogue domain in terms of temporal fine structure and lack of modulation noise, than by any description in the digital domain, particularly one that relies on sample rate or bit depth numbers. MQA works by converting the analogue music to digital and back to analogue again. The conceptual framework models analogue as an infinite sample rate representation, which can be approximated by a hierarchical chain of downward and upward splines.

dCS Rossini DAC/ Rossini Master Clock review
The new dCS Rossini Player makes superlative sounding music from a wide range of digital sources, simply integrating your digital music and setting the performance standard for digital playback. Its single FPGA brings improved signal processing and superior flexibility, effectively making it future-proof. Rossini Player has a powerful new user interface, plus a custom control app that lets listeners manage their music playback from any source in an elegantly simple way — accessing CD playback, music streaming services, digital and UPnP sources from one control point.
The Rossini app also features an intuitive install and configuration wizard for ease of set-up. Featuring DXD upsampling as standard, the multi-stage oversampling design offers optional DSD upsampling plus an extensive selection of DSP filters to suit individual taste and music choice. Multi-stage power regulation is employed, with twin mains transformers to isolate the analogue, digital and clock circuitry. This lets dCS add new features and improve the performance of Rossini over its lifetime.
When listening to digital music through a Rossini system, listeners are immediately struck by its natural musicality and faithfulness to the original recording.
It delivers a powerful and visceral sound yet is highly transparent too, making for an immersive and realistic listening experience. Some formats are limited to lower sample rates. USB 2. USB-on-the-go interface on type A connector operating in Asynchronous mode, streams digital music from a flash drive at up to 24 bit.
Unbalanced outputs: 1 stereo pair on 2x RCA phono connectors. Final rendering of unfolded MQA data only from the other inputs. PCM mode: up to 6 filters give different trade-offs between the Nyquist image rejection and the phase response.
DSD mode: 4 filters progressively reduce out-of-audio band noise level. Download and update functionality available via Mosaic App. RS interface controlled by a 3rd party automation system. Only logged in customers who have purchased this product may leave a review.

Brand dCS dCS Founded in Cambridge, UK, by a group of expert electronic engineers, Data Conversion Systems originally designed and manufactured high performance analogue-to-digital converters ADCs and digital-to-analogue converters DACs for major telecommunications companies and military agencies, whose primary requirement was technology that delivered state-of-the-art precision, linearity and reliability.
Their success in this field meant that dCS quickly became known for the performance of its converters and so, recognising in the late nineteen eighties that this technology had a key role in music recording and playback, the company decided to concentrate on developing products for the recording industry.
Their products continue to set new standards of performance in terms of both objective test measurements and subjective listening Performance Matters At dCS they care deeply about meeting their own uncompromisingly high standards. They hope their products stir a passion for music that lasts a lifetime and their greatest success is that products become invisible, leaving you the listener with only the music. Delighted customers and industry recognition have followed them too.
Over the last quarter of a century dCS has amassed a wealth of awards. Additional information Colour Black, Silver. Reviews There are no reviews yet. Product Search Search for: Search. Our Installation Portfolio View all of our latest home cinema and home audio installations.

dCS Rossini Player
DCS Rossini. Dear members, as user of a Puccini since 5 years, I am thinking for upgrading to Rossini player. I read many of you have the chance to have a Vivaldi stack , but I didn't read something about the Rossini. So can you share your experience with Rossini. It would be very helpful. Do you have the opportunity to listen to one?

Event at Goodwin's High End: Computer Audio and dCS Rossini DAC

Two and half years ago seems both long ago and like yesterday. The "Vivaldi stack," as we came to identify it, a massive pile of advanced circuitry and elegantly machined aluminum, proved to be the sonic equal of its pedigree and price. It exalted every digital disc I played, and it put digital sound, via high-resolution streaming and file playback, on an equal plane with the best analog -- not so much something equal to or better than spinning LPs, but rather a medium of its own, with its own distinct virtues and sense of musical realism. I ended that review by saying that I had no expectations that the Vivaldi 2. I know this will seem like hyperbole, but I will state it anyway: The Vivaldi 2.
dCS Rossini disc player and clock
I began the testing with the first sample, but continued with the second sample. The Rossini Clock was used for all tests. The Rossini played without glitches until the dropouts in the pit spiral reached 1. With the minimum track pitch, it had problems when the dropouts reached 1mm in length, but this is still good performance, if not up to the standard set by the SACD transports in the Puccini and Vivaldi players. The CD standard specifies only that a player cope with gaps up to 0. With up to six reconstruction filters available for PCM data, four low-pass filters for DSD data, and a choice of four maximum output levels, testing the Rossini was a complex and time-consuming task.
dCS Rossini offers gets SACD capability
In a really exceptional system, usually with Wilson speakers, the dCS units can provide a transparency to the sound that is really quite extraordinary. If the rest of your system is that good, dCS is a no-brainer. For most people I suspect their systems may not resolve the difference. There is no simple answer to the tech. The dCS Ring DAC was first released around 30 years ago and has been under constant development ever since by quite a large team. It is probably way ahead of anything else out there and pioneered virtually every element of HD audio. I have borrowed recently a Hugo TT2 from my dealer for week-end listening, and it is truly an amazing DAC: pinpoint image accuracy and completely silent background.
