AAAI-13 Invited Speakers

The conference holds thematic sessions for invited presentations, tutorial programs on related subjects, and special interest group workshops. Cutting-edge bioinformatics areas presented at the conference include bio-imaging and visualization, databases and ontologies, evolution and comparative genomics, gene regulation and transcriptomics, mass spectrometry and proteomics, population genomics, protein interaction, and molecular networks and structure.

This award will assist students and postdoctoral researchers, particularly under-represented minorities, at a critical but resource-limited stage in their careers by partially funding the travel and expenses associated with attending the conference. Through their participation, these students will have the opportunity to be exposed to leading edge research and methods, gain introductions to international and world-renown keynote speakers and senior level scientists, seek out prospective postdoctoral and collaborative opportunities, and meet their peers from all over the world.

ISCB is the only society representing computational biology on a worldwide scale and its flagship conference, ISMB, has become the largest conference on computational biology worldwide. A considerable fraction of all the major scholars in computational biology frequently participate in ISMB.

Consistent with this leading role in representation, ISMB has become a major outlet for increasing the visibility of this extremely dynamic new discipline, and for maintaining and elevating its scientific standards. It has become the vehicle for the education of scholars at all stages of their career. ISMB has also become a forum for reviewing the state-of-the-art advances in the many fields of this growing discipline, for introducing new directions, and for announcing technological breakthroughs.

ISMB and ISCB continue to contribute to the advancement of biology, and build the bridges necessary to support research developments by dedicated and passionate groups of scholars from an unusual variety of backgrounds. Typical, but not exclusively, the topics of interest are: sequence analysis, evolution and phylogeny, comparative genomics, protein structure, molecular and supramolecular dynamics, molecular evolution, gene regulation and transcriptomics, proteomics, systems biology, ontologies, data bases and data integration, text mining and information extraction, and human health.

A greater understanding of these topics enables researchers to make better predictions on how the human reacts to disease and illness. 3Dsig, a Satellite Meeting of the ISMB/ECCB conference, focused on structural bioinformatics and computational biophysics and has become the largest meeting.

Previous Symposiums

The principal focus of the conference is on the development and application of advanced computational methods for biological problems. The conference has been held every year since and has grown to become one of the largest and most prestigious meetings in these fields, hosting over 2, delegates in The main ISMB conference is usually held over three days and consists of presentations, poster sessions and keynote talks. Most presentations are given in multiple parallel tracks; however, keynote talks are presented in a single track and are chosen to reflect outstanding research in bioinformatics. The proceedings of the conference are currently published by the journal Bioinformatics. The origins of the ISMB conference lie in a workshop for artificial intelligence researchers with an interest in molecular biology held in November Such a conference would be dedicated to molecular biology as a rapidly emerging application of artificial intelligence. The conference was chaired by Hunter, David Searls research associate professor at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Jude Shavlik assistant professor of computer science at University of Wisconsin—Madison and attracted over attendees from 13 countries, [4] submitting 69 scientific papers.

This year ISMB will be held in Berlin July , and we are looking forward to mingling and meeting with fellow computational biologists, software developers, and IT experts. Louis; and Carole Goble from the University of Manchester. In addition to the stellar talks, we are looking forward to speaking with developers about our new app program, which aims to deliver new genomics tools to our user community. A couple of main advantages to the DNAnexus platform include a standardized environment in which your application can run and a great distribution mechanism to gain users among a much broader audience.

ISMB 2022 Meeting

In addition, Prof. Kellis has served in the program committee of several meetings in computational biology, and participated as an invited speaker to a number of meetings. The meeting consisted of keynote presentations, oral presentations selected from submitted 1-page abstracts, and three poster sessions, also selected from submitted abstracts. The goal of the meeting was to bring together computational and experimental scientists in the area of regulatory genomics, to discuss current research directions, latest findings, and establish new collaborations towards a systems-level understanding of gene regulation. The meeting was a great success, with participants attending from 10 countries in 4 continents. The scientific program represented some of the most active and successful labs in gene regulation from around the world, and brought together computational and experimental scientists in the area of regulatory genomics.

BOSC 2013: Bioinformatics Open Source Conference, July 19-20

A SIG meeting is a one- or two-day focused workshop. A Satellite Meeting is similar to a SIG meeting but is more of a mini-conference and is generally two or three days in duration. In addition to keynotes our diverse program will include talks selected from submitted abstracts, our traditional after dinner speaker, daily discussion on important topics to this community, laptop software demos and poster sessions. Simply put, 3DSIG is the most comprehensive conference in the field and should not be missed by anyone using macromolecular structure to computationally unravel the mysteries of living systems. Over the years, 3DSig has brought the leaders of the field of Structural Bioinformatics and Computational Biophysics in an ideal environment for personal contacts and discussions. Abstract submission deadline: April 30,
