SDR transceiver compatible with HPSDR

QRZ Forums. Are there any plans or kits for amps designed for SDR radios? I shouldn't even be asking this question since I have too many unfinished projects already, but I've been curious about SDR radios and so sometime in the next couple of months to next couple of years I'll probably build something, and that got me thinking about an amplifier to get somewhere between watts. I haven't been able to find much out by googling, so I wondered if anyone here has had any experience or exposure to what might be out there? I'm comfortable with either kits or plans, and I'm primarily interested in 40 and 80 meters and in that order if there are only single band options available right now.

It is a fair and appropriate way to compare wide-band receivers, but when you use it to compare a radio with narrow RF selectivity against a radio that is capturing the entire RF spectrum at once, you are trying to compare apples and oranges. The test is a wideband linearity test, that was originally developed to measure linearity of analog microwave basebands. It does that well. It is appropriate for benchmarking wideband systems against each other. Analog Devices uses a form of it for measuring and benchmarking wideband Analog-to-Digital data converter performance. Traditional receivers with limited front end linearity, due to multiple amplifiers, mixers and images, solved their internally generated spurious problems by adding RF selectivity.

The problem with most ALC circuits is they are too slow and the attack time not fast enough to prevent the first part of the voice peak from flat topping for an instant.
