Of course you can do much more with software but if, like me, you like sitting besides your rig and just tweaking things slightly to your taste, this will help.
I use it for my minimal speaker rig besides my armchair. Head-fi members swear by it for their headphone rigs.
Some recordings are just rubbish and need a little help. Need a tad more bass on the fly? The Loki provides. It's a simple bit of kit but nicely made and it works. Am really looking forward to seeing what my Genelecs think of it tomorrow.
Will post again to note how the Genelecs do with a little colouration. In my system there is zero noise from the Loki. Aornic Frets: February 4. Cool to see Schiit turn up here. For a speaker of this size the sound quality is stunning. And for those who's ears tell them the Genelecs are bit "muddy" in the mids, try them with a Loki.

Schiit introduces Lokius: a 6-band equalizer
B ack in the s, tone controls were considered a must-have feature for audio gear. But in , their reputation sank when famed audio entrepreneur Mark Levinson introduced his JC-2 preamp, which omitted the controls. The pitch was purity—audiophiles had noticed that some gear sounded better with tone controls switched off—and within a few years, the ability to tweak frequency levels had practically disappeared from high-end audio equipment. In the last 10 years, though, tone controls have started to reappear. Because the human ear is more sensitive in the midrange, so large changes in this range can make recordings sound unnatural. And four controls seems like a just-right number; the EQ app in my smartphone gives me 10 different bands, which makes it impractical for adjusting on every tune. Any jazz fan who regularly listens to pre- Kind of Blue recordings should at least consider finding a way to get tone controls back into their systems. JazzTimes Newsletter. In so many ways that is an appropriate choice. Many have moved past the need for physical equalization, either due to software offering it or headsets designed in a way to bring out certain soundscapes. Going heavy on certain ranges will do a lot of things, commonly referred to things like footsteps, audible cues, dialogue and so much more. This is perfectly represented in their basic packaging. Given Schiit Audio makes most of these components fit together, it has a similar appearance to the previously reviewed Magnius and Modius , just in a smaller form factor. These include coated dials, switches, and a much-needed light.
