By default, all audio tracks output to the sequence master audio track. However, you can also create submix tracks. You can output audio from any track to a submix track. You can then out put audio from a submix track to a Master Track. You can use an audio track as an input for a submix track or for the Master Track. By default, Speaker Panning is set to Direct Assignment, meaning a sound or music object's channels are assigned directly to the corresponding channels of their output bus, regardless of the position or orientation of the listener or game object. You can, however, use the Speaker Panner's Balance-Fade option to balance the volume of each channel within the sound or music object so that they can be heard at varying levels through the channels of an output bus. The Speaker Panner contains a two dimensional graph view with X and Y coordinates that simulate the "pan" and "fade" controls of a car panner. You can drag the black circle that represents the point source anywhere within this graph view to change the amount of power routed to the channels of the output bus. The actual power distribution depends on the output bus configuration.

In audio, panning is the process of positioning sounds at particular locations in the stereo image of a mix. Using pan pots, you can make an instrument sound as though it is coming from a specific point between your left and right speaker. You can also use panning on stereo instruments to control how narrow or wide the instrument sounds. The process of positioning instruments from left to right and controlling the width of stereo instruments allows you to spread instruments out across the stereo image in the way that best suits your mix.
