10 tube D+A Phantom 500 linear amplifier recapped on the bench.

Another D+A Phantom 500 for the record books. This one is a 10 tuber, 4 driving 6 6lq6 tubes. It was 10-40 meters, but it is now mono-band, 10-12 meters only. Also, it was a dual stage or dual power, but is now single stage, full power out only. It has been recapped, the original tube keying circuit was replaced with a modern solid state circuit from Nomad Radio and it does what its supposed to do. With a 4 watt radio, it dead keys 350 and swings to 500 rms, but I don't like to run them that way. I put a JB-12 Modulator (Hams hate that word) behind it and let it swing. The JB-12 is set to dead key 2 watts and swings to 25 RMS, 50 watts peak. Putting that into the Phantom, I get 200 watts dead key, 600 RMS and just under 1000 peak. I like it.
